Re: Q6600 vs 3930k vs 3820
The Asus Sabertooth has been ordered. I wanted to take advantage of the 10% discount before it went away.

Re: Q6600 vs 3930k vs 3820
This upgrade is going to give me something to do during my two weeks off when I get home. It's going to take some time since I may have to make some changes to the water cooling system.
Skully, what cooling block are you using? I'm thinking about going with the DD-M6 Nickel at Danger Den. Looking around for a water block is bringing back a lot of memories. It's been a while since I needed to buy something like that. The last cooling supply I bought was some fluid.

Re: Q6600 vs 3930k vs 3820
Got the CPU in the mail today. These 2011 CPUs are huge. It looks like they are bigger than socket A CPUs. I still remember upgrading to socket 478 and thinking it was tiny compared to the Athlon 1.4 I was upgrading from. Now to pick a water block for it.

Congrats on the new MB and CPU.
The Sabertooth has a reputation for being rugged. Which appeals to me. But looking back at your posts I couldn't tell exactly which CPU you chose. |

Re: Q6600 vs 3930k vs 3820
I had a saber tooth with my present build at first. I replaced it in error thinking I had a bad board. It turned out to be the CPU though. I ended up selling it on EBay. It was a good mb. Lots of temp zones!

I ended up with a 3930k.
