Where can I get win7 Gadgets?

Where can I get windows 7 gadgets today?

I went to the M$ page for them and they are just not there at the Microsoft website. (or are they somewhere)

I'd like to get a few that looked interesting such as a new clock face and the post-it notes. I never got into win7 gadgets before. I'd like to check them out.

Did anyone download and tryout the gadgets back when win7 was the M$ doll?

Re: Where can I get win7 Gadgets?

You're not supposed to.
Microsoft says:

Quote:
Because we want to focus on the exciting possibilities of the newest version of Windows, the Windows website no longer hosts the gadget gallery.
Gadgets installed from untrusted sources can harm your computer and can access your computer's files, show you objectionable content, or change their behavior at any time. If you are concerned about the safety of gadgets you’ve downloaded in the past, you can learn more about gadgets and steps you can take to protect your PC.
Some info for developers:
You can now use your HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills to build modern apps for Windows 8. To get started developing modern apps, go to Windows Dev Center.

There are plenty of places on the web offering gadgets, but with Microsoft implying security flaws in that quote then I wont be using them.

Re: Where can I get win7 Gadgets?

There are a few in W7, just right click on desktop then select gadgets. I use the clock, calender, Drives meter, cpu usage and the weather bug. I did find this also.

Seriously, when MS warns us about one of its own products then u can be sure there is something really wrong.

Re: Where can I get win7 Gadgets?

They ditched the gadgets in another attempt to force migration to 8 And didn't they know from the start bout that flaw?
And by the way..

Isn't that the same tools used in gadgets?

It is WolfSoul.

Security flaw = BS.

There were security flaws and intrusions before win7 gadgets and there will be security flaws and intrusions after win7 gadgets. ... and there will always be BS from M$.

I can remember at least twice since day one of win98, where a virus could not be extracted from my system and the only solution was a fresh install of a ghost image partition backup.

There are a few gadgets I'd like to get. I know "they" stopped the internet TV gadget about a month ago.

That is nothing but a dirty move to push consumers to Win 8.

Re: Where can I get win7 Gadgets?

Not sure if you know what I meant but anyway what I was pointing out is they're developing the new apps in Win 8 with the same tools they used to develop the gadgets so unless Im missing something those apps will probably have these same security flaws
On a sidenote... I think alot of people just won't use 8 at all

However, the vast majority of consumers get their OSs with new hardware. They have no choice.

Re: Where can I get win7 Gadgets?

That's what downgrades are for.. which like people have stated before don't count in statistics, more deception from greedy corporations

Yes, may be part of a larger strategy to move away from supporting Win 7.
Will they fix those issues in Win 8? Of course. Will those fixes overflow into Win 7? No way!

When MS says one of its own products has security flaws that wont be fixed they dont mean they cant fix it, they mean they wont and u better believe it.

I wonder what other components will drop out of the Win 7 support lifecycle next?
