Gaming on Wireless-N

So the new house in Tucson has one cable jack in the house. It is nowhere near the computer, so I am stuck putting a wireless PCI-E card in my desktop. I am looking at a Centrino card that has an external antennae for about $35. Am I going to see a huge lag spike going wireless? My laptop has full bars in the room on Wireless-N and can pull about 200 mbps stable. Ping at speedtest is about 6 ms in the same room.

Here is a speedtest from the room I have my desktop. It was done on my laptop with the same Centrino type chip. Not too bad.

That ping time is awesome, really nice speeds even on a wired network!

As long as you can get the signal from the router to propagate throughout the structure properly, you should not see significant lag. There will be some; however, if you have a good strong signal, it should be minimized.

There are simple tricks you can use...
