building a mac compatible....?

this may be a nonstarter, but thought i'd try. i've got a bunch of intel stuff, desktops, laptops, but i'm expanding into mac stuff, with a mac air and ipad yada, and i'm interested in trying to build something that would be compatible. there might not be anything i can do, other than buy a desktop mac, but i thought i'd ask. any way to build a mac-based desktop yet?
thanks.

Re: building a mac compatible....?

While you may be successful with the hardware, you may encounter too many issues with the OS.

Sold some stuff once to a guy who does Machacks all the time. So it can done. Google it.

Re: building a mac compatible....?

Every time I check, Apple wants twice the bucks for parts you could build on a Windows machine.

I don't have that type of money anymore, when ever I can scrape up twice the bucks I will either be putting it to a 2X Raid array, 2X SLI configuration or a double socket system.

Everyone has their own tastes.

I have an adversion to elitest attitudes.
Hammered home when I find out they won't bother to repair a piece of broken glass on a kids 150$ IPOD.

Re: building a mac compatible....?

In the case of Apple (pun intended), it probably costs more to buy the parts separately than to buy a complete Apple.
