Re: windows 8.1 slow

Sounds like a connection or server problem to me, not your OS.

Re: windows 8.1 slow

It isn't that way on my laptop running W 8.1, everything seems super quick? What Browser are you using, if its Chrome there is a problem, IE 11 is fast.

Try IE 11 and see if it makes a difference, Chrome is definitely slower on my laptop than IE 11!

Re: windows 8.1 slow

I installed IE11 for Windows 7 and all went well. It kept all my plugin settings and I didn't have to change anything. It messed up my desktop gadgets though and the right-click search with mouse didn't do anything.

I used system restore and went back to IE10. Usually if this was a legit upgrade you would see it advertised or in the Windows update window. I don't think it is ready for primetime in Windows 7.

Is IE11 the default browser for Windows 8.1?

Re: windows 8.1 slow

Going TDY for a while so I won't be able to install Win8.1 until I get back. FYI, Windows 9 might appear sometime next year and it will be bringing Aero back to the desktop. Also, after 9 comes 10 and it is suppose to all MS Cloud based. Another nail in the desktop coffin.
