Re: Windows 9 Threshold

I am curious to see if MS will make an edition solely for the desktop.

Re: Windows 9 Threshold

"At least HP is listening to their user base. I have both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. The only thing that made Windows 8.1 tolerable is a couple $5 programs that allow me to make it like Windows 7. My desktop and laptops are not tablets or smart phones and don't need smart phone interfaces. Microsoft laid an egg on the UI. PERIOD."

LOL, you shouldn't have to install a couple of paid programs to make the OS work for you especially when it's to revert it to the previous OS. In hingsight, if Windows 7 SP2 comes out to incorporate Win8 features or Windows 9 comes out soon and reverts back to the Win7 Start menu then Windows 8 will go down as a mistake on my part. I found Win8 rather fun and very updated compared to Win7 and I only spent $120 on it. MS might offer a discount on future Win 9 you never know. You did good J/T to stay away from it though until the course gets corrected.

I still find it odd that MS didn't divide Win8 into two versions, one desktop and the other for handhelds. It was probably non-productive or impossible to incorporate the although 3rd parties seem to do it. I am surprised MS passed up the chance to market 2 products instead of one. Instead, their marketing ploy was to call this handheld OS Windows 8 and mislead everyone into thinking it was the desktop successor to Windows 7.

Re: Windows 9 Threshold

Whatever happens I look on the bright side. I enjoy being a PC enthusiast as well as you guys do and I can say that I have experienced every DOS and Desktop OS Microsoft has put out. I even liked Vista after the service pack.

Re: Windows 9 Threshold

Maybe Windows 9 will be a hit. MS might listen to the public on this one like they did post Vista (Windows XP) and bring on a classic. Version 9 might be an ominous number as it was a popular IE browser version (first non-Windows incorporated browser) along with it being a popular Windows Media Player version.

Yeah, I am glad I have it as well although I haven't picked on the Start screen as well you did. Zero maintenance.

Re: Windows 9 Threshold

With a few changes in Windows 9 it could become a very good OS, hopefully they get it right this time around. 8.1 is a very stable and sound operating system, I have never had a blue screen with it.

Re: Windows 9 Threshold

I think it would be better if they worked on solving problems that are constantly appearing in previous versions rather than thinking about creations new OS versions with their own bugs.

They need to do both to remain competitive, innovate as well as renovate.
