this may sound dumb, but....

i'm looking at a new build, but dont want to mess with windows 10, or 8.1. can i do another win7 os? actually, i'd prefer os x, but i dont think i want to mess with some weird hackintosh thing.

W10 is way better than W7....just go for it.....

Storage is cheap.

Set up as many OS's as you want.

Linux varients are free.

OSX might be nice (haven't tried that one), but having windows is nice if you want the best games.

but if i do w10, dont i have to buy it again next year, and buy ms office again each year? not sure i'd like to pay twice for the same real estate....

No you don't have to buy W10 again, office 365 you pay year to year but not the OS!

i hate to sound naive, but it looks like if i want to build my own new system, then i have to buy into w10 and office2016. if that's the option, then i am strongly leaning toward an imac. better os. am i wrong?

I'm not into macs so W10 is my choice, plus if you game at all mac isn't the way to go, plus your going to have to buy Office 2016 for Mac too. ...lol...so where is the savings???? Oem of W10 Pro 64bit is $129.
