I miss Windows XP

No other OS will ever be quite like what Windows XP was back when it was released in 2011. It was such an order of magnitude leap from Windows 98/2k, both in terms of UI and stability, that it almost reinvigorated the PC experience for me. Nothing since, not even Windows Vista came close. That is all, thanks for listening.

Re: I miss Windows XP

The only thing about XP was having to get all your drivers together for a fresh install, so much easier now? Hi Sammy!

That was fun in its own way - although you did always need the CD for the ethernet drivers, or god forbid, if you were one of the early Wi-Fi adopters, for those clunky PCMCIA adapters.

Re: I miss Windows XP

Whats to miss? I still have XP on one of my machines... Chugging away as a spare gaming rig in the family room. Doesnt get used much tho.
And I have a virtual instance of XP on a Win7 laptop that I need to run an old accounting package lol

Re: I miss Windows XP

Heck no.

Software was just catching up to hardware and plug and play was finally
useable in Win98SE. With Win98SE things were finally getting stable and
the internet was starting to take off. Plus PCs were getting powerfull enough
to view videos.

Windows 2000 was for the professional. Nice and orderly.
While one might have had a key, I don't think you had to deal with the
activation garbage you did in XP and later.

XP and its Crayola crayon type font was built for the gamers.
XP was one step forward two steps back.

Re: I miss Windows XP

Personally, I think Win 7 is better than XP. the user interface is a bit buggy.
