Re: noctua 15

You might want to look at the Noctua NH-U12S, it has a 120MM fan and does a great job...will be more than enough for the 7700....Any Noctua cooler will be fine, the best of any air coolers by far!

Re: noctua 15

The NH-U12S also weighs less than a lot of other coolers (although I admit that may be limiting its cooling performance) and is quieter than some fan assisted water cooling solutions.

I'm always pretty reluctant to load a kg of cold hard HSF metal onto a brand new expensive board...

But if you dont care about a heavy HSF potentially warping your board over time, or a noisy aggressive fan that keeps your housemates updated on your gaming habits then there may be better options for extreme overclocking.

Re: noctua 15

You don't use near as much wattage as you use to. You would be hard pressed to get 75W out of that 7700 processor.

Re: noctua 15

thanks! i've been studying the noctua lines, and sizing up the sizing up of the z270. but i had another question: how does apple stuff such a big cooling system in its imacs? or does apple cool chips differently?
