Asus gtx 1080 strix

Best value card has to be the ASUS STRIX 1070 and I loved the card so much I went out and have bought it's twin. The 1080 is identical in size and has the same cooler and looks as the 1070 but it has a good bit more performance with a marginal increase in power. Should be getting the new card this Friday.

Re: Asus gtx 1080 strix

Got my new card installed, so far so good. I have only checked the fans and LED's, appears to be running great. I forgot how big this card is. It doesn't look so big inside the case. I really love this card I tell you.

Re: Asus gtx 1080 strix

Thanks Skully, so far so good. I ran the ROG Furmark for 10min and It got to 67C. I want the TIM to settle in a bit. The fans all run level and smooth and the card is very quite (no coil whine).

Re: Asus gtx 1080 strix

Thanks guys! Yeah I am very happy with it. I feel the 1080 has plenty of performance for my single monitor and it is a cool running card IMO (185W) plus the STRIX cooler. Core clock is at default Gaming Mode which is 1809MHz. I don't know what it reaches yet in Boost clock. My 1070 was 1835MHz default Gaming Mode clock and would hit over 2000MHz in Boost. The 1080 has GDDR5X memory running at 10,010MHz and the 1070 had GDDR5 running at 8008MHz. Desktop GPU temp is around 33C. I am running GPU Tweak II with a custom fan profile for fans to come on at 45C and hit 75% fan speed at 70C.

Re: Asus gtx 1080 strix

Just ran Furmark for a few minutes. Boost clock reached 1885MHz and 61C.

Tried to run Heaven and Valley but neither would run on Win10 with Creative update.

You should post in the W10 Creators update thread about Valley and Heaven not running with that update...thanks Sandog!

You should run Heaven and Valley and tell me if it works for you. If it doesn't, then I will post. I don't know if it is my card or Win10. I am not liking Creative update BTW.

Re: Asus gtx 1080 strix

Here's my FireStrike Ultra score.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-6850K,ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. RAMPAGE V EDITION 10

I would load a picture but it fails to upload. I got 1949MHz max core in boost mode, 58C max GPU temp, and 57% max fan speed which I could barely hear.

This was while running the above benchmark. I ran Firestrike Ultra which is for 4K monitors and I ran at custom 2560x1440 16:9 resolution. It kicked my cards *** as you can see above lol.
