Posting & Usability Issues

After the restore there are still some ongoing issues being mentioned the members in various threads and I'd like to gather the exact details of the problems.

Would members who are experiencing any issues with posting or using the forums please describe them here. I will use this to follow up with support.

Just a brief description of the problem and anything relevant that you noticed.
With any luck we will get these addressed and resolved.

Thank you.

Current confirmed issues:
1. Attachments not working.
2. Many missing smileys. FIXED
3. No email notifications of any subscribed thread posts.
4. Front Page latest post updating incorrectly.
5. Occasionally after submitting a post theres a long delay (90 seconds) before the page refreshes, and in the meantime it just sits on the editor page.
6. Photo gallery not working.

Re: Posting & Usability Issues

There are a whole slew of issues.

1. I was able to upload a single attachment and that was it, no more.
2. Smileys are not all working.
3. Submitting a post takes two clicks.
4. No front page update from latest thread post.
5. No email notifications of any subscribed thread posts.

When I submit a post nothing happens. When I click it again a double post message comes up with a 'Click here to take you to main thread' and then disappears and then I see my new posted message in the thread.

Re: Posting & Usability Issues

After I click to post, I need to wait around 60 seconds b/4 I can use the site again. Just seems to hang waiting for the server to respond.

Edit, but not this time - so randomly :-\

Yes if you make a post you have to wait at least 60 seconds for it to post....like you said I see the site waiting to get it to the server! If you look at the ABX tab at the top of Chrome you will see the icon turn to a spinning circle meaning its loading your post, I just edited this post and when I first posted this it took at least 90 seconds to post.

Re: Posting & Usability Issues

I'm not experiencing that annoying 60 second delay however I remember it was happening to me a few weeks ago. Only thing I did was delete my abxzone cookies and clear the browser cache.
Would those experiencing this issue please try that and log back in, if you havent recently.

Ill try that but that's the least of the problems! Not being able to post pictures and no e-mail notices is the most important......oh yeah and the front page not keeping up to date on latest post!

Re: Posting & Usability Issues

On the few occasions when I've seen the long delay between submitting a post and the normal response I've simply gone to the site on a different tab and found that the post did in fact get put up promptly. It seemed like it was just the response on the original tab that took a lot of time, or eventually timed out.

Regarding the lack of email notifications, my perception has been that one consequence is that potential new members have not been able to register, at least in most cases. I say that mainly because many attempted spambot registrations are shown in the Moderator Control Panel as awaiting email confirmation, even after many days or weeks, which didn't use to happen in most cases. A bit of a blessing in disguise, though :-)

Best regards,
-- Al

Re: Posting & Usability Issues

60 seconds is not acceptable at all. Did not even now about it because I refuse to wait that long. Clearing cache has nothing to do with it. I always clear cache. Appears ABX works differently for others.

Re: Posting & Usability Issues

Clicking on a thread on the front page doesn't take you to the latest post, takes you to the 1st page.

Sandog, I cannot replicate issues 3 and 4;
Submitting a post takes one click for me. FP seems to show the latest update.
Next time you try either of these would you let me know if its ok now or not?
