Re: Intel Optane SSD 900P 480GB NVME 3D XPoint!

Hmmmm. I have hope for a 1TB.

"The Optane SSD 900P will be available as a 280GB U.2 module or 280GB and 480GB PCIe cards. Intel says it is not currently building models using the M.2 form factor due to power delivery and heat limitations. Higher capacities are in the works but additional models are not expected to be launched before the beginning of next year. Intel also said it is working on other Optane SSD models for laptops and desktops in the M.2 form factor next year. Optane SSDs will be bootable, and are compatible with most modern desktop PCs."

Re: Intel Optane SSD 900P 480GB NVME 3D XPoint!

I do not think 43C is high. Its about 110F, in a case, that's nothing. IMHO

In any case Intel confirmed my thoughts about heat in the chewing-gum-stick form factor.

Your right my 950 Pro doesn't start to throttle until 70C....but with the Anglebird mine has only got to 49 C....with out the Anglebird it hit 70c before!

Re: Intel Optane SSD 900P 480GB NVME 3D XPoint!

I do believe 70C is high. Cannot be good for longevity. Who knows, none of this new stuff has been out long enough to have accurate data points. Common sense tells me the larger the area of the form-factor, the more heat dissipates.

Exactly, the reason for the Anglebird....I've been doing some figuring, if I got a 960 Pro I would end up getting a Anglebird for it, so those 2 would come up to about the price of the Intel 900P 280 gig drive (within a few dollars)...I won't have has much space but since I figured out how to put mt game files on another drive I don't use that much space, maybe 120 gigs?

120G sounds good for now, but the future - who knows?

BTW, the ref board in the links was a ASUS 370 Prime. I may be on to something.
