Re: iPhone 8 and X

Well I’ve picked up a X and I’m very happy so far.
It fits quite comfortably in my jeans pocket and the screen is a good size for reading. Its physically a much handier size than my 7+
Everything seems to work as advertised. Face ID is reliable and no fuss.
Didnt take long to get used to no home button but for some reason whenever I start typing I go to use two hands out of habit when one is all thats needed. The only stretch is the far left top corner.

The screen size is slightly taller and narrower than the 7+.
I think the 7+ is a better size for reading but the X is very close as well as much more usable, so I’m happy.

Re: iPhone 8 and X

Hey thanks everyone, but this is not a very exciting event for me, I use the phone quite extensively for work purposes so the purchase was a straight forward business decision.

I'm very conscious that for the money I could have built a new gaming rig, lol. I dont regret having bought the 7+ either when I did, it made my browser/reader experience so much better.

The 7+ is a beautiful phone but has always been a little too inconvenient size wise when I'm on the go, so when I realised that the X was physically smaller but still with a large screen it was an easy decision.
If I had better eyes I would have stayed on the smaller form factor of a 7 or 8!

Aesthetically its actually quite nice, it reminds me of my old 3GS because of the chrome strip and feel. But I've already wrapped it in a protective case and screen protector, so much of the "beauty" is obscured! The 7+, in my opinion, is actually quite an impressive looking device in a minimalistic sense, or at least my black one is. The X, however, has a retro feel to it which has a different charm.

The 7+ was no slouch but I've noticed already that the X does have slightly better performance, which is a bonus. I wasnt expecting any improvement given the apps I use are not demanding, but it does seem slightly more responsive.

The OLED screen is beautiful and text is very clear and easy to read, even in sunlight, which is very much appreciated.

4K video might be handy for me occasionally, for better detail.

I think the only way Apple could entice me to upgrade again any time soon would be if they put an iPhone out with Sapphire Glass all over and good inbuilt drop protection. Then I wouldnt need a case at all, which would reduce the size of the phone yet again. But I dont think we'll see that for a while, so I expect to have this phone for at least the next couple of generations now.

I cant think of any use for my 7+ so will have to sell it. I'll lose a bit on it, unfortunately, but I am quite pleased with the physical usability of the X so thats how it goes.
