Re: Z97-ws

Well I did check power and reset connector (twice), tried another power supply...no love....default bios settings, same result, going to try pulling cmos battery next and resetting the ram....If it was a update on the new drive which I don't think it is because my old ssd does the same exact thing....all I did was pull that drive and put the new one in, I did screw up and put the cable from the monitor to the onboard connector when I first booted and of course there was no boot, that's where I think I messed up hit the power button to stop the rig and put the cable to the video card, but the rig was still running (you cannot hear this computer at all when its running)....so I think I fried something on the MB, still have video, system boots fast, everything works, except when you shut down it doesn't you can wait 10 minutes and all the fans are still on but the monitor and keyboard are off, hit the power button for 5 seconds it shuts down?

Re: Z97-ws

Remove all GPU drivers and let OS install MS drivers. See what happens.

Re: Z97-ws

If it has a discrete GPU, make sure onboard video is off in BIOS. Set it to Auto or Off. Try Auto first.

FWIW and may be too late:

If you have the original OS install for that rig on the original SSD/HHD, image it and restore to the replacement SSD.

I am almost certain you do not have a hardware problem. Sounds like drivers. I have done what you did with the video cable and not had these issues.

Its hardware somewhere, the ssd I took out shutdown perfect yesterday morning when I took it out, so it was fine, no update problems, worked perfect. What gets me when I was installing the OS on your drive, it would reboot along the way doing the install (perfectly normal) and if you go in to the shutdown or restart section and hit restart, the computer completely shut down and then restarts normal, so It will shut down computer then for a couple seconds then restart...so that function is working just not the shutdown. How about downloading a new iso from MS and reinstalling the OS?

Re: Z97-ws

Are the Powerscheme settings at default?

If the original drive has the "Perfect" functioning OS on it, make an image of it, then restore it to the new SSD.

D/L an ISO and reinstalling won't hurt. Do not update the OS to you are sure it is working correctly!

Re: Z97-ws

Did you initialize the new SSD from either Disk Management or the OS media first?

The old ssd is doing the same thing has the new one how, so I don't think that would do any good, I could go back into updates and uninstall most of them and see what happens on the new install?
