Pny gtx 1070 vcggtx10708xgpb-oc-bb

Hi Guys,

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
So on Black Friday, an impromptu thought came into my head, and I thought why don't I do some shopping at Bestbuy?
I picked up a PNY GTX 1070.

Opened the box, and found out this was no where near the quality of my ASUS GTX970 strix.

This was less than half the weight, no backplate, and chintzy plastic fan blades.
After the fact, I checked out the reviews online.
Of the dozens of reviews I read, most of which all gave a 5+ rating, almost 95% used the word chintzy in regard to quality.
I paid $399 (US).

The new card is giving me about 35 more FPS in Heaven than the older 970 GTX.

Almost all the reviews said the card was very reliable.
This remains to be seen. In a rather cold room, late November, it is running 68C benchmarking Heaven.
The temps might be a concern in the summer when the room is 30F degrees warmer.

Would I buy the card again? Probably not. It was an impulse buy.
I'll be happy with it as long as it lasts. Seems to be quiet enough.
My son said he didn't notice much of a difference in game play.

Congrats, impulse buys can be a killer sometimes. It still sounds
like the card works well...

Re: Pny gtx 1070 vcggtx10708xgpb-oc-bb

Thanks guys,

Well added 100Mhz to Core clock and 400Mhz to Memory clock in Afterburner.
Stable.

I'm fine with it. Did the trick. Son was bugging me for a faster card.
Now he's content, now that he sees no improvement.

Congrats on the new card GW. You probably get the most out of your card than any of us so you need a good one. The NV 1000 series is an excellent choice. It has all the performance, features, memory, and efficiency you could expect from a video card IMO. I plan on keeping my 1080 for a long time as it suits my single monitor well.

Ah, I've had that experience of having to let go of a high quality built component for an upgrade in performance with a cbeaper built component. Its not a nice feeling.
The 1070's are reliable so nothing to worry about.
Let it go!
