I'm retiring.

Well guys I have come to the conclusion that it is a good time to hang my hat at ABXZone and retire. I have been here 15yrs and I considered myself an active member for most of that time except for a few self imposed exiles. I don't want to hang around here forever, it is not meant to be. Ironically I am also finished with my kit. Judging by the pace of legacy in PC hardware and the fact that I have the latest now, I should be fine for at least 5yrs with this system.

It has been good hanging out at this place, I have always felt fortunate about where I am from and times that I lived in and experienced. Riding the beginning of the PC age was a great experience. I don't know what I would have done otherwise with the time I spent going down to the magazine racks and looking into the Computer Shopper and all my other dealings with PC's. ABXZone was a big part of that era and was a lot of fun.

I won't be texting any longer but I plan to post Monday with a shot of my desktop with new keyboard and hopefully a decent case pic. then I am stopping at that. I wish everyone well from here on out.

Sandog

Re: I'm retiring.

Sandog, if you need to slow your posting rate down significantly to make room for other activities in your life then more power to you, but that's sad news for the rest of us and for the 'Zone. You are a big figure here at the 'Zone and have been so for a very long time but each of us has to look after ourselves first, obviously. I hope all is well with you and your family.

Your regular posts are going to be very sadly missed indeed.
They're always knowledgeable, interesting and on-topic' and your posts are always very welcome, please post when you can.

Re: I'm retiring.

I know an addict when I see one.

Shopping for a better part. Comparing what the rig is now vs what it could be. Pulling the trigger. Waiting for delivery.
Articulating those thoughts to friends. Sometimes being misunderstood and then rearticulating.

Finding some sort of flaw. Staying up late nights until one discovers the true cause and rectifies it. Warning others as to not fall in the same trap.

Sealing up the case and announcing "Finally, I got my system the way I want it".
Man if I had a dime for every time you uttered that phrase, or some derivation of it, I would be a rich man.

Sandog, Thanks and I wish you the best, but if you find you need a fix, you know where to come. We got the best stuff in town.

Tom

Re: I'm retiring.

Sandog,
I'm not sure I can add much more than the others have already said.
Sorry to hear that we may not see you posting. I enjoy reading your posts and will miss that.
I've been hanging around here for ~18 years. Sometimes active, many times not, especially lately... But I don't think I would ever consider quitting.
Whatever you do, I wish you all the best and thank your for all you contributions here.
