Re: Intel i7- 8700K Reviews!

I am certainly starting to like it. Professionalism on their site may reflect pride in their designs.

Leaning towards the Classified. I want to see the back I/O. If not enough USB, then I'll look at the FTW.

Reading their documentation was a joy.

Nothing I have found. May want to look at EVGA.

I think tne Z270 took months.

My last couple of boards have been WS and I've been super happy, but given the quality of the other boards I really wonder if its worth the wait these days?
I wont be doing SLI or installing ECC chips... but theres usually plenty of expansion options on them.

Re: Intel i7- 8700K Reviews!

I do remember quite some time ago I built two systems for some buds of mine using EVGA FTW. Easy build, had some BIOS issues as well as Drivers. Board was not fully matured at that time. Good support. Bud's are still happy with them. It was around 7 yrs ago.

Re: Intel i7- 8700K Reviews!

I think you should hold out for the ASUS WS before you jump in. That is a professional mobo as well and is packed with features. It would go extremely well with the i7-8700K 6-core at 4.7GHz. A system like that would last 5yrs easy.

Thats the plan... unless they decide to release Cannonlake in the next 9 months...

When do you think the WS will come out first of the year?

Re: Intel i7- 8700K Reviews!

The mainstream boards seem slow to get out. I think ASUS will get those ducks in row first. You should hear about the WS board weeks before it is available but I remember waiting for Z87 and it came out about 2mos after.

The thing is, Z370 is nothing new. 95% of the boards are just carbon copies of the Z270's feature wise. If there were a Z370-WS coming out it would be a carbon copy of the Z270-WS. So, will ASUS release a Z370-WS at the end of the year when it is getting punched out by Z390 in H2'18? I do not expect to see a Z370-WS and then less than a year from now another Z390-WS. It would not be a good investment for ASUS.

I feel everyone has the upgrade bug but honestly, I would wait until things settle in up to December before I made a board decision. The deal is, next year Z390 comes but so do the 10nm CPU's. Those might actually make the 8700K seem ancient already. Strong rumor has it an 8-core will come out and probably have the same TDP. A lesser 6-core variant could appear that would outshine i7-8700. I think Intel will make 10nm CPU's that work on Z370 though. There is always something new coming out.

When/if someone gets the i7-8700K I am interested in gaming benchmarks compared to my old OC'd 5960X.

Thanks for your insight, like I said earlier I'm in no hurry. Really I would rather get a oled monitor for what I would spend on a new updated system!

Appoximate actual release/availibility. WS is my first choice, EVGA second.

Re: Intel i7- 8700K Reviews!

You should take a look at the Z270-WS, it is a very nice board. I would definitely want the Z370. I might even come on over with you guys.

Re: Intel i7- 8700K Reviews!

If I do this, I want the latest. Not in a big rush anyway. Z370-WS or EVGA is what I have my sight set on. If I do this, it's going to be piece by piece on sale.

I don't care when they launch the actual boards, I just need some firm specs. And or course the Z390 is a factor.

BTW, an iMac is not off the table yet. Don't have to worry about the upgrade cycles with that!
