Is Intel rushing x29???

Looks like some serious issue might ensue...

YouTube

Other websites like Johnny Guru and some others are testing various theories about PSU and others...but this is not a good sign. Was seriously contemplating an upgrade...now wondering if I shouldn't just upgrade my 5820K on x99 instead...

What the hey? That's really disappointing, wow is that guy reliable?
I mean, overheated power supply cables, like what?
Theres house fires just waiting to happen right there.
Flip

If true these should all be recalled.

I don't think there's a problem at stock speeds and voltage!

Re: Is Intel rushing x29???

Well we saw how Intel is falling all over itself since AMD announced Ryzen 16 core mainstream. If what I read on this forum is true from links members posted, X299 is suppose to run two different CPU families, HEDT and a mainstream CPU converted over. Seems too broad of CPU support IMO. I don't even like how they make mobo's that are compatible with DDR3 and DDR4. I never liked that one and never bought a board that could as far as I know. Also, ASUS builds the boards and VR circuits but they rely on Intels design recommendations.

I will definitely be sticking with my X99 chipset. This thing rocks and supports X4 speed PCIe SSD's all over and it rocks the Haswell-E which is the last great OCing and easy to cool CPU IMO. I would only go to Z299 if the bugs are out and if I had to have +8 cores.

Re: Is Intel rushing x29???

BTW, look at this Z270.

ASUS ROG Maximus IX Extreme LGA1151 DDR4 DP HDMI M.2 Z270 EATX Motherboard with Onboard AC Wifi and USB 3.1-Newegg.com

$629

Makes my RVE10 look like a steal and I got a SupremeFX Hi-Fi audio box with mine that rivals the best headphones amps and double the RAM slots hehe.

The Maximus IX Formula is what I would get and it's $389, and that's about what I paid for mine.

Re: Is Intel rushing x29???

Yeah that is a good one FVB, would like great with a single STRIX video card in cherry red LED mode. Having the VR water cooled though is gimmicky nowadays IMO.

Yeah, but consider that many will run Skylake X on these boards.
I'm sure there will be plenty running overclocked.

Re: Is Intel rushing x29???

Yeah nobody pays over $600 for a water cooled mobo and doesn't OC the crap out of it.

I know most members here don't OC but it is not like it use to be. It use to be you were going full bore 24/7 and creating a lot of heat. Now my OC CPU sits at that same frequency a stock CPU sits at 90% of the time which is 1200MHz. You basically have a 90% decrease in heat, wattage, and wear on the CPU when you OC compared to before (if you do it right). Only during load does it go to the OC mode. Most of the time the CPU is used for a very short period of time. Not enough time to get things hot.

So here is my CPU, a hex core with all cores set to 4.3GHz and HT is enabled. Anytime 1 or more of my cores is called to do something it jumps up to 4.3GHz. Here is what my 4.3GHz OC looks like heat wise while I am typing on this PC.

If anyone thinks they need any better efficiency, more power, or an easier to cool CPU than Haswell-E on an X99 mobo then good luck finding it.
