Re: Asus Sabertooth Z87

Here's a Asus feature I really like, you can connect the reset button 2 pin connector to a 2 pin boot to bios header, so when you want to get into the bios you hit the reset front button on your case and you go straight into the bios....VERY NEAT!

Re: Asus Sabertooth Z87

Yeah I've thought about it and the Sabertooth is really what I want. I like the covering on top, the TUF components, ASUS quality, and good stable OC ability.

The rest is just the Z87 common chipset features and not a lot of extras I won't use. The mobo looks conservative and serious. No bright colors or goofy crap. It looks TUF.

Here are all the basics I am looking to achieve.
  1. Efficiency (coolness), stability, dependability, and low noise all while having a slight over clock.
  2. RAID 0 on Intel SATA III
  3. Good spacing on my Sound Blaster card and GTX 780 (already have the slots picked out).

Yeah we already discussed that feature. It's nice and I am using it.

I was just watching a video on Asus boards and this is the first I've heard of that feature.

Exactly my thoughts, minus the SB card GTX 780.

Re: Asus Sabertooth Z87

It's and impressive board, feature wise and looks to be extremely well constructed. As an overclocker, I'd be a bit concerned about cooling the MOSFETs. The are too shrouded from my perspective and a 40 or 50 mm fan isn't going to draw anywhere near enough airflow to afford effective cooling. If one is not overclocking, this is a great board and one that should last a long time.

The MOSFET's are MILSPEC and run cooler. There is also the back plate with thermal pads directly underneath the MOSFET/VREG's. I am not worried about cooling the MOSFET's. I am worried about cooling the i7-4770K.

Yep, I ordered the Corsair H90 about 20min ago. Even with that I don't think I will run very cool. A lot depends on the nature of my CPU. I am also going to install the water block optimally (not too tightly).
