Re: AMD Threadripper 1950X CPU

If this is true and they stay with the prices from around the web this could be a killer deal....included with the Threadripper cpu a AIO cooler with 2 fans! GO AMD....

well at least the question of which HSF you will need is answered;
none, you need a liquid cooler!
I think its neat that they're providing one in the package, though.
I wonder if the cooler will need active cooling with a fan?
This issue of heat dissipation also makes me wonder about overclocking potential.

X299 is currently selling well despite Ryzen's imminent arrival.
I'm open minded. I dont see any point spending $00's on a system build than necessary. If Ryzen is competitive, cheaper, reliable and doesnt require Skully's air-conditioner solution then its going to be worth considering.

I'm also wondering about gaming performance, naturally. I'm currently able to game at 1440p on my ancient X48 rig in all the current games with my fps nailed at 60.
GTAV, FO4, FC4, Doom 2016, Prey 2017, RE7, you name it, all at Ultra settings. That indicates just how important the GPU contribution to fps is over the CPU, however I'm also running a quad core. I doubt that I'd get similiar performance from my old C2D.
Since installing the C2Q and the 1080 I've lost a lot of motivation in an X299 build because its difficult to justify the price for the minor improvement over my current setup.
If more, faster cores will deliver a significant improvement, bumping me up to 4K, then I will be interested in building a Ryzen system at these prices.

Don't forget this. You'll need extra for VEGA.

Yeah I saw the 399 socket, what a bunch of pins. Only takes 1 bad one.

Re: AMD Threadripper 1950X CPU

I congratulate AMD on having something exciting finally in the enthusiast CPU market but just looking at that CPU divided in two and reading what Intel said about how they are glued together cores reminds me of how bad AMD gave it to Intel when Intel came out with the first quad-core. It was two glued together Prescotts or something. Big hit it was.

I am hoping the best for AMD. Makes Intel cheaper, faster, better.

Re: AMD Threadripper 1950X CPU

There are a lot of Ryzen reviews over at NE and from the looks of them most are very positive. Users are saying they are getting a positive experience in using Ryzen and that is what matters. If it is running Windows, programs, and games smoothly then you wouldn't know if you only had an i3 in there.

Re: AMD Threadripper 1950X CPU

I watched a YT installation. The CPU comes with a permanent holder. You slide the holder into the socket hinge and THEN when it is secure properly you take away the pin cover and put the CPU down on the pins.
