Possible new build

I haven't built a pc since 2011 and a lot as changed. My latest pc is a Dell Optiplex 7020 with a i7-4770. It does everything I ask for so I'm not sure if I need to upgrade.

Here is what I'm looking at.
Intel i5-8400 CPU
Asrock Z370 Pro4 Motherboard
Geil EVO Potenza 16GB DDR4-2400
Western Digital M.2 250gb SSD
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Geforce 1050 OC 2GB Video Card
Corsair CX450 Power Supply
Corsair Carbide 200R Case

$843 Plus $60 off in rebates.

It would make a nice upgrade, the one thing I would look at is a 850 Evo 256 gig ssd, I think they are real close in price, and you can't beat Samsung ssd....I've seen the EVO for $85 at B&H, in fact I just got one for my wifes rig! The video card and the cooler are top notch too, 212 evo works great and 1050 if its like my wife's doesn't need a pci-e power cable...enjoy the new rig if you get it!

Re: Possible new build

Very nice PC, I would add a used 4790K and a 500GB SSD and you would be golden for quite awhile.

Re: Possible new build

Currently I have a Scandisk 120GB SSD that I've been using for awhile and its great. Was thinking about upgrading it to a 250GB model but I don't know If Ill see a performance increase. I'm not sure if my Optiplex can do higher then the 4770. It's also a small desktop so the extra power needed and heat might cause a issue.

Re: Possible new build

I would look at a Seasonic PSU. Had troubles with the last Corsair PSU I had - their support was useless!

I'm running a Seasonic in my server since 2007. Been running strong without issue. I never used a Corsair before.

Re: Possible new build

All I've used for 15 years is Corsair PS and never had a problem!

Re: Possible new build

Hit and miss on most things. Atleast prices are cheaper.
