Acer Predator X34 - worth it?

I notice that prices on these older but great IPS uw g-sync gaming monitors are dropping. At least $300 bucks cheaper now. I guess OLED and HDR are pushing them down.

Just wondering if they're worth it at these prices. The ultra wide aspect would be handy and g-sync. I've got a 32" Dell IPS now, which is nice, but the x34 is a beautiful screen.
But they ate still around $1000 AUD.

Any thoughts?

Re: Acer Predator X34 - worth it?

I love my Dell 34 wide IPS and it doesn't have G-Sync which from what I've heard is great for gaming, I've never seen it in action. How much is that in American dollars?

A $1000 AUD is currently sitting around $758 USD

I'd prefer OLED with HDR but they're stupidly expensive.
Actually for a $1000 I could probably get a chinese OLED, 27" TV.... but i it wouldnt be any good as a monitor, too much filtering, slow response, 1080p, etc. and 27" is too small.

Its a nice looking monitor with great reviews, but the X34 is a couple of years old now.
I dk how it compares with the current offerings.
I wasn't going to spend $1600 on a monitor, which was the price when they first came out, but I would consider a 1000.

Also I never gamed at ultra wide before but have heard it can be immersive. But while you gain field of view dont you lose height? Doesn't that affect the immersion?

I paid $800 for the Dell I have in my sig, so the X34 is cheaper now than mine...good deal. The smallest Oled tv or whatever is 55 inch, right now you can get a 55 inch LG last years model for $1300.

Exatly, which is one reason I was considering a TV as a monitor.
I did try a 32 LCD TV a while back which had a gaming mode. That turned off most of the filtering and was pretty good actually, but I may have been lucky.
OLED would be awesome but I think my next monotor has to be 4K and an actual monitor so I get good g-g.
