Re: Fallout 3

From "No Mutants Allowed" site...Fallout 3 World Map..they also have some good weapon/follower/bobblehead info, tho I regard such lists as "semi spoiler' for first run-through....

I'm still doing Quests inside of Megaton after 24 hours and 5 minutes of gameplay...other side Quests are distracting me as well...still havn't decided whether or not to nuke it...they seem like nice people, I think I'll spare them ....I think I'm almost ready to move on from Megaton as I've received quite a few quests that require me to go to Rivet City

I'm also keeping Megaton around for now because that's the only place I've found so far that has a doctor...and I needed Doc Church to cure my addiction as well as some minor radiation sickness...I'm also on the last chapter of Moira's 'Wasteland Survival Guide' Quest, so once that's finished I don't need her anymore (that Quest has to be the longest one in the game)

Megaton should die if only to shut Moira up! ...she chirps like a bluebird with rabies...

Finished Moira's quests, but not sure about how far that moves me to completion...with Fallout the answer is somewhat ambiguous...upon looking at the map I posted the link to and the seemingly endless side paths I'm trying..I am beginning to believe that there is one helluva lot of gameplay here..I have probably been some places you have not and vice versa...have not nuked megaton yet, I feel there is still more there to uncover in plot...will happen tho ...i'm finding that a very "good" or very "evil" char may be missing things that a more "neutral' type does not, although I had the very amusing occurance of running into a hit squad of mercs that had been specifically dispatched by unknown entities to kill me for being too much of a goodie two-shoes...was amused by the letter/contract I took off their bodies....great stuff!

I ran into those guys as well...Talon hitmen...there were 4 of them which made it kinda difficult to take them out but I eventually ran into a nearby store and ambushed them with frag mines

I'm also amazed at just how little of the map I have uncovered even after 20+ hours of gameplay

Re: Fallout 3

My wife and son gave me an early Christmas present, so I have been playing this game that last few days.

This game is really good. In a vacuum, I would be hyping this game up.

BUT, it is not as darkly funny as the original games. Maybe it will get better, but for now, it is just a dark game with some flaky characters like Moira.

Stay "Well-rested" After you have slept in your bed for a while, you gain 10% bonus experience for a certain amount of time. Being well-rested is listed in pip boy. So make sure you sleep well before doing/receiving rewards for quests.

BTW, I think the perk for extra experience is a waste if you plan on doing the sidequests. Apparently, it is pretty easy to hit the level cap if you are doing them. Which means you are better off using that perk for something else.

as a fan of the original games, I'm sure you'll appreciate the return of Dogmeat as well

First patch...notes link is busted, so not sure what's fixed

Bethesda Softworks

Edit: saw this at Blue's News -

Fixed occasional crashes when exiting the game or using Alt F4 to exit.

Fixed crashes when using Alt-Tab while binks or credits were playing.

The game now restarts properly after title updates finish installing.

The patch only contains three relatively minor fixes...apparently Bethesda is already working on the second patch, which will be more substantial

Re: Fallout 3

Man, I really hate first-person perspective games, but all the enthusiasm makes me want to play this.

the game can be played in either 1st or 3rd person view...although the 3rd POV really is not the best
