Re: Time to upgrade again

I have been checking the tracking and the Cpu will be here today from C.A. But they have rescheduled the motherboard I payed for next day and it was shipped the same day I ordered it. Oh well.

I n a different note, The video card was not purchased, thought of something.

Would I get better performance with two lower end cards in crossfire or one higher end card?

Gaming is the only benifit to Crossfire I can think of-----and even then----a lot of games don't scale well with crossfire....

And HD 4850 overclocked with the built in Catalyst Control Panel is a HECK OF A DEAL right now.....

I always go with a single card....

Re: Time to upgrade again

Well its in, I am very happy with the results except for one thing. The memory timmings are off. Honeslty I am not sure how to set them in this bios. I have found where to set them but so many darn options. CPU-Z says the memory is running at 400 and Sandra says 800 :O.

Re: Time to upgrade again

Ok, I know it is odd but I wanted to go out of the box(for me anyhow) and I purchased an BFG GTX 260. I have been an ATI for as long as I can remember. Must say I am happy with the results. It just about tripled my 3Dmark06 scores.

The only problem was my Enermax 485W could not handle the load. My voltages were all over the place. Its Saturday and no half way decent Computer stores around so I went to Best Buy( please dont think any less of me) and bought the Thermaltake Black widow 850W PSU. Once again I must say I am pretty satified with this as well.

Re: Time to upgrade again

Yeah----that's the one downside to the high end Nvidia Cards-----they need a pretty powerful, newer model PSU....

If you'd have gone with the 4870 you "might" have gotten by with the Enermax----but I knew with the Nvidia Cards you wouldn't....

Then again-----even the 4870 equires two 6 pin plug ins and a lot of juice.....

Re: Time to upgrade again

Did a bit of playing around today. I am not at 3.0 on my 9950 with little work using AI Booster. Max temps I did see were 51 C Durning Vantage. Cheers.

Re: Time to upgrade again

After a few weeks of torture and allot of games I can say I am very satisfied with the results. Everything is running the way it should with no major issues except Windows Vista locking up IE every so often. But another HAPPY AMD/ATI ASUS FAN!!!!!

I'm beginning to suspect Microsoft Siverlight.....

Or a recent Patch.....

Same thing is happening (occassionally) to me on IE7.....

IE7 just kind of.....freezes.....

A restart of IE7 usually fixes it-----but sometimes I have to go into the task manager to shut down the frozen IE7

Yup, that is it. Just locks up and it will not resolve without closing the window. Have not seen a pattern with any sites either. It is annoying at times when i have a few tabs open but I suspect a patch will come out soon enough.

I still have not forgotten my A9n-sli/x2 3800. That thing is working great, minus I had to steal a few fans from the case for the new build. It is a little warm in the case. Once the fans are replaced I will most likely fold full time on it.
