I am checking user reviews on it. I am not totally satisfied with the Sig2 I have now and the 780 offers substantially more performance. I think waiting for Maxwell is an excellent idea. For me, I am trying to finish my desktop off soon and then that is it.

Also, I received another NE auto-notify about the EVGA 780 less than an hour ago and when I checked, all gone again.

IIRC, you have a 27" monitor, so I'd imagine you are lacking in some performance. Given that, I can see why you'd need more horse power, and the GTX 780 definitely delivers.

I just upgraded to a 24" monitor (Dell 2412M for only $280 shipped!)** and my GTX 680 is plenty powerful enough for all the games I have at the moment.

Oh, here is a quicky overclock review from AT that you may find interesting: AnandTech | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Overclocking Results

**My 22" Samsung developed a bright blue vertical about 1/3 of the way from the left edge. I was writing code at the time and ran right through the editor pane and was driving me nuts!

Re: Next generation

I plan on getting the super clocked version and down clocking it to the reference frequency. I like to chance getting the best chip I can but I don't really want the added heat ATT. One thing, I will read up before flashing if I do so because the 780 has a UEFI BIOS.

It's a good monitor for the price. I do miss having an 8 bit panel, so I would have liked the 2413 model better I think, but that's a lot more expensive. Occasionally I notice some banding (in games when I'm looking up at the sky) and the grays a a bit washed out a bit, but I have Zero dead pixels!

Be prepared to spend about an hour fine tuning the color profile (I did this mainly through the NV CPL) and don't forget to re-run the Clear Type config tool, that help me get the text just right for the new monitor (at first I thought I was going to send it back because the text looked awful, but re-running the config fixed it up just fine).

Oh and I've noticed no ghosting in games, I have the gaming mode set as default. I am stuck @ 60 Hz since this is an IPS monitor, even though my favorite game ATM runs @ 90 FPS with everything maxed out.

Your 670 is plenty for that monitor 1920 x 1200, the 780 would be overkill.

Re: Next generation

Got my 3rd email notification from NE for the GTX 780 ACX and out of stock again. Saw one on Ebay yesterday for $990 and it had 27 bids.

Re: Next generation

Did you know the EVGA GTX 780 SC ACX is the fastest single GPU card out there? It beats a stock Titan in almost every benchmark because of its clocks.

Re: Next generation

Yes the GTX 770 is a rebadged GTX 680 which is not bad considering the GTX 680 cost $550 less than 6mos ago.

I thought it would be a revised GK104 chip but reading reviews there is really no change to it. It appears NVidia just rebadged the card. I believe the slight performance increase over the GTX 680 is due to higher clocks.

FYI, the current GTX 770's all have 2GB of memory. You may want to consider waiting for the 4GB models to arrive. They would be around $30 extra.
