Re: Welcolm to Windows 8;

You know.. MS hate(d) the fact that XP has been around so long and been popular.. so for the sake of their wallet they're trying to make it die soon
PS That means SP4 is way outta question

Re: Welcolm to Windows 8;

I think they are making a mistake by bringing out Windows 8 this soon after Windows 7 (especially with significant changes to the UI). Windows 7 is finally ready to take the throne from WinXP and now MS is confusing the situation.

Why don't they go do something useful for a change instead of stealing money. All we want are updated drivers.

Re: Welcolm to Windows 8;

Taken from an article I just read about Windows 8 adoption; "I also think people with above-average technical expertise, especially enthusiasts, are going to loathe Windows 8. I think those people will cling to Windows 7 for their dear lives as long as humanly possible. The new Metro interface, you see, is a double-edged sword."

Re: Welcolm to Windows 8;

Here's a quick review from Engadget with a 9 minute video, all I have to say is that they have a lot of work to do before I would ever put this on my computer!

Re: Welcolm to Windows 8;

Your right it has no way to muti task like we have now, watched a podcast over at the Twit network with Paul Thurrott and one of the people at the Microsoft Build conference said it was a joke on trying to muti task and said if it wasn't fixed it will be a absolute BUST!

Here's a link to that podcast, all you want to know about Windows 8!

Re: Welcolm to Windows 8;

All I know is most companies are running XP and when they do have to buy newer PC's they either want it to come with XP on it or they reinstall it with their Corperate XP version. Why you ask? Because it works, they don't have to spend time and loose money retraining employes on the OS, and the replacement equipment doesn't need to be too costly to run XP ie; less ram memory. Oh and one more thing Windows-8 won't run 32bit apps.

Yes it will run 32 bit apps there is a 32 bit windows 8, theres no way it won't run 32 bit apps even MS isn't that stupid! Under the Metro interface lies W7 so it will be backwards compatable!
