Re: * Intel i9-7900x *

Well I ordered this CPU and I believe I paid $14 for 2-day shipping. It arrived in town today at 5:58AM but nooooo, I am not going to get it until AFTER Christmas. I really don't appreciate UPS too much.

I worked today which gave me a chance to modify my LED wires. I put cut the old heat shrink off, bent the wires, and applied new heat shrink. These LED wires were coming straight out an inch and no way would they go in my case. I played with the control at work and it is pretty neat. It has about 5 intensities and does some neat tricks. I am thinking of using Velcro inside my case to put it above my mobo. Then I can reach up and change the LED's. Originally I planned to put is in the rear side panel which is not accessible.

Well don't know if this is the right thread but ITBM is still popping up like the posts said. Don't know what Skully and FVB's secret sauce is.

Is this the method you used? This is what Skully and I used....

Here's your answer, put this into a command prompt with admin rights, to disable the service: "sc config ITBMService start= disabled" Its worked for
me, TBMT 3. will still show up in device manager and in control panel, but
won't show on your desk top no mo...

OK I will try it. That is not what I used, I ended the task and disabled it in Task Manager.

Doing well FV, thanks! Following everyone's new builds while setting up my own new equipment. Will post in a separate thread when I have time after the holidays, family starting to show now. To all, good luck with the new hardware and Happy Holidays.

They have a good deal on the Intel Core i9-7920X. Might be time for you to upgrade.

The Beast is installed. Temps and clocks are as good as the 7820X but power looks better LOL. I did not OC my 7820X at all but I am tempted to try it on this one.

Re: * Intel i9-7900x *

Skully I see now what you mean with this CPU, it is a smooth character. I waited all the way to the end of AIDA64 64bit RayTrace and only hit 348W max. I know I did more than that with my 5960X. It was running 10 cores at 4000Mhz for a lot of the benchmarks. When it got past Julia and into RayTracing they all dropped to 3.6GHz.

Capture3.jpg

My hottest core showing was 61C. People who say they hit 100C on water at stock need to take the plastic protector off the CPU before they put their HSF on LOL. I always get good results with my TIM install, two grains of rice. Before I fired this CPU up for the first time, I thought I will probably end up with a good one, I will like it, and I won't need to upgrade next year. I am not seeing going back to 8. I'm too good for 8 now LOL.

BTW, I also installed my EnSourced 8pin PS cable. I am done except for a couple of RGB LED's and cables arriving soon.

Re: * Intel i9-7900x *

Congrats Sandog,

Sounds like a great chip.

Glad to see you are finally getting the system the way you like it,
smooth right out of the box.

Think the Optane memory is the way to go.

Enjoy.

I'll never understand peoples fascination with LED lights though. LOL

Re: * Intel i9-7900x *

Question:

Is HW Monitor only showing the Activated cores?
I know it's a 10 core chip but HWMonitor shows cores 0-12
missing cores 5,6,7. I take it those are the deactivated ones?
