Nvidia Announces GeForce RTX GPUs, 2070 Starts at $499

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced the Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti, 2080 and 2070, ending a roughly two-year drought of new GPUs from the company. The GPUs were revealed at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. The cards are based on the companyís brand-new Turing architecture, initially announced last week. The GeForce RTX 2080 Founders Edition sell for $799 and the 2080 Ti Founders Edition will cost $1,199. Both are available for pre-order now and will ship Sept. 20/ The GeForce RTX 2070 will cost $599.99, but you can only sign up to be notified on Nvidia's website. Huang said that the RTX 2070 will outperform the Titan Xp.

The RTX moniker signals the cardís ray tracing capabilities and also shows off artificial intelligence and programmable shading. Huang began the GeForce announcement by describing ray tracing and how light, shadow and reflection are the "holy grail" of graphics. Nvidia's RTX technology combines rasterization and ray tracing to render images. The cards feature dual-fans, which is new for Nvidia's Founders Edition line.

Huang showcased the 2070 starting at $499, the 2080 starting at $699 and the 2080Ti starting at $999, so it's possible third-party GPUs will be cheaper than Nvidia's own.

I watched the entire event, I heard with my own ears what Jensen Huang announced pricing would be, and after the event was over, I went to nvidia's website and seen the pricing exactly as Jensen Huang announced. And by the time I posted it here, I was tempted to pre-order the 2080 ti so I went back to nvidia's site and the prices had been jacked up $200.00 on the 2080 ti and the 2070 just in the time it took me to post here and go back to their website.

Not really sure how to feel seeing the prices change like that within a 15 minute span on announcement day.

That's Nvidia just being greedy, wait for the benchmarks to come out, I bet a 1080TI will be more than enough for all the games out today! And SRTdodge05 for the info!
