Re: Intel Optane SSD 900P 480GB NVME 3D XPoint!

Nice scores. I used the latest driver on Intel's site. You do not run Intel SSD ToolBox. Did you get the game?

Yes, I kept the game. I didn't know it was so popular or else I may have sold mine. I doubt I will ever get to play it. I might not even get around to playing WolfII.

Also I was saying I do not run Intel SSD Tollbox. It is not listed under the 900P drivers. Have you read about using the Tollbox on Optane? I use Windows Defragger.

No I didn't, I ran the optimizer also but I think you don't have to with the Optane, it might have been on the PC Perceptive review they said it wasn't necessary?

After installing a new copy of Windows on drive A, you should be able to move the shortcut folder back to the desktop and your games, settings, etc. should not be affected.

I don't want to just move files over to save space on drive A, I wan't to have a standalone game drive so I don't have to reinstall games again. That would be cool if possible.
I have my main system set up with drive D as my game drive. When I have re-installed windows on drive C I then re-install Steam and point it to the Steam folder on drive D and install / overwrite the Steam system files. When I launch any of the games from that point it will run the initial direct x type set up files but after that the games are there along with all data and saves. This has been the case for the Tomb Raider series, Half Life series, Wolfenstein series and the Batman Arkham series to name a few.

Well that didn't take long sold it in 3 minutes on Ebay for $100...the coupon for Stat Citizen...should have asked for more...but didn't want to wait around...made the 900P a little cheaper!

Re: Intel Optane SSD 900P 480GB NVME 3D XPoint!

Cool beans on the game, I will check it out sometime. I get emails from it every week.

Yeah Scorpio that is the scenario I envision, installing Steam like any app on Windows drive and then point to game drive. Almost everytime you install it there is a new version of Steam anyway. My game drive will be 512GB and although that is not a lot it will be enough for me.

Re: Intel Optane SSD 900P 480GB NVME 3D XPoint!

If you read the top here of the latest Intel SSD Toolbox support page you will see that the new Optane SSD's and memory do not require Optimization or TRIM from within SSD Toolbox. Therefore, it is not available in SSD ToolBox.

Here is the latest driver DL page. I just got the latest SSD Toolbox and IRST to use later. SSD Toolbox can still be used to show Intel SSD drive information and to see if you have a new firmware available.

Re: Intel Optane SSD 900P 480GB NVME 3D XPoint!

I've got two STEAM drives, separate from my Windows system drive.
The first one had filled up so I installed a second drive for additional games. STEAM sees both drives and I can specify which one to install games on.

I also moved the "My Documents" folder to another drive for backup purposes and encrypted it with bitlocker, but that created headaches for some games that assume its available for game backups. I think I ended up moving it back and then moved all my critical data out of My Documents back to the separate drive.

Last count I had 4 drives in my rig, but I may have forgotten one... should check...

I also use links for some directories as I moved stuff around for backup reasons. I dont like having critical user data on my system drive. If the Windows install goes bad and I need to refornat and reinstall I dont want any of my data on that drive. Only issue with this approach is that its easy to forget where the links are after a while.

Did someone say they had a coupon to Star Citizen? I thought that game was vapoware?

Re: Intel Optane SSD 900P 480GB NVME 3D XPoint!

I am logged in and have a fighter plane but I don't know it you can play yet. I went to log in and noticed they were taking donations. I would like to play it later. How big are your game drives Zap and how full are they?

Here is some info. on Star Citizen. It is a FPS based on games like Counter Strike and a flight simulator and trading game all built into one. It is spaceship oriented and looks pretty cool. I sold my nice MS fight stick and should have kept it.

Re: Intel Optane SSD 900P 480GB NVME 3D XPoint!

For those with new drives don't forget to turn off Fast Startup in power options. I just went through and checked everything. I woke up to find my box on this morning. I had all the ETH adapter settings on wake. I totally disable Sleep mode on my PC. You do not even see the Sleep button in the Start menu. During idle the only thing I turn off on my computer is the monitor. Screen saver comes on in 15min and the monitor goes off in 30min.

The Intel 900P was one of the original reasons I got the APEX mobo. The RVE10 did not support Optane.

Re: Intel Optane SSD 900P 480GB NVME 3D XPoint!

Up date on Intel Optane SSD 900P 480GB in 2XRAID-O. I get a better
4k readings now in RAID-O. I've been playing around in the bios. And
came up with this benchkark in Crystal disk. I still think my RAID-O is
not setup quite right. Its hard to find good info on Intel RAID-O set ups.
I'm hanging in there until things get more clear. Anywho its quite fast as is.
Here a pic of me RAID-O score ... Top pic is without RamCashe 2, and bottom
pic is with out RamCashe 2...
