Screensaver will not stay set at none

I have my screensaver set to none but every time I reboot it resets to the XP screensaver. Anyone have a fix for this. I tried google with no results. Thanks.

Is your "on resume from screensaver, ask for password" checked? I noticed on mine, if it's checked, it stays checked when I select "none" in the screensaver dialog, it may over-ride your settings..

do any of the other screensavers work or does it only not save the settings when using the "None" screensaver option?

Yes all the other screensavers work it just does not save the None option. I may have to look into the registry entries.

I found this....

Screen Saver - Set to None

Check your settings here: Go to Start/Run/Regedit
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

Scrnsave.exe = C:\Windows\System32\logon.scr

Verify your Time while there as well and choose accordingly:
ScreenSaveTimeOut = (set your preference)

Also make sure none of the screensavers are wrapped in double quotes as in: ""c:\windows\system32\screensavername.scr""

More information and checkpoints: Check your setting for the screensavers path.

Here are some examples:

Marine Aquarium 2.scr > rename it to > MarineAquarium2.scr

In the registry, screensaver will work correctly if it is listed as so:
c:\windows\system32\marine~1.scr

Screen Savers do not work correctly if listed as so:
""c:\windows\system32\marine aquarium 2.scr""

Ive had a past problem where my screensaver is automatically re-enabled at random times...Never could figure it out and then it just went away.

I am not sure, I checked everything in the registry and never changed anything. Set the screensaver to none and rebooted three or four times and it stayed at none.
