Unfortunate.
Peter,

Good comment, but you must admit that the buffoons you successively get for President are the very material to inspire jokes and ridicule.

I am constantly perplexed by the American official attitude to the Health Care of their people. It sounds irresponsible and callous when these very people are the most voluntary patriotic people on our Planet by a long way.

These people from the richest to the poorest, fly the national flag from their homes whether it be a mansion or a hovel and the Government does not care whether they become sick and live or die. Yet they spend $Trillions in Foreign Aid, fighting other peoples wars and simply wasting money on idiotic ventures.

I don`t like the chorus that is being sung here so far. It is a travesty of irresponsibility and a national shame.

...and as such your entitled to your opinion. Great thing about "Free Speech".

Survival of the fittest still applies - a bit more subtle, but it's still there.

NO Jim, The Survival of the Fittest definitely does not apply to modern human society and just like you and I look after our families as top priority, then so should countries. Their human collateral is paramount to a countries wealth and prosperity and free Health Care is worth every cent. After all, we do not scrap our machines and modern goodies when they break down do we ? NO, we repair them and maintenance is BIG business.

USN Jim ? My guess is that you had Corpsmen and damned well equipped hospitals staffed by highly qualified medical teams. I know we did and they saved thousands of lives and patched up horrific injuries so that at least the guys could make something of their remaining lives. If the concept of Natural Selection had been followed so that only the fittest and uninjured survived, my Regiment would have been annihilated.

Well the United States used to have a doctrine that was similar to natural selection. It was called Manifest Destiny. Our idea of health care was to give away free blankets. This policy was over 90% effective. However, I don't think this really applies here. The most worthless people i.e.those unwilling to work, those who recklessly reproduce with no plan or ability to take care of their young, are taken care of with zero effort put out by them to take care of themselves. They want to be gangsta's or hustler's. These people already receive free health care, housing, food stamps, dental care, undeserved grants to go to school (though few utilize this) etc. Not to mention the people who aren't even legal citizens. Where can I go jump a fence and get free health care and welfare?! The issue is about, frankly people like me! People that are highly skilled and work their *** off just to be hit with extremely high premiums that they cannot afford. People are so up in arms about paying for other people's health care when the fact is, you already do! This is about providing AFFORDABLE health care to those who actually deserve it! If I had my way I would not grant one red cent to anyone who was able bodied but unwilling to work. Want to have a child when you don't even know who your "baby's daddy" is? Pay for it yourself! The state should only grant them an abortion pill. This is the problem with the system. Providing for people that will never produce for this country or even themselves. I have never received a free dime in my life! I have lived hand to mouth on more than one occasion. Honestly I am struggling a bit now. The difference between me and the should be tree dwellers, is I will TRY and I will SUCCEDE! I gave up considerable income to go back to school recently not to mention PAID for it. So health care basically works on this scale:

zero income worthless to society(in fact a detriment to society) = free

Working class getting paid hourly and basically building this country = at least 1/3 of your income

upper middle class = mostly paid by the corporation you work for with affordable premiums

upper crust = heh who cares! you can buy whatever medical advance there are. Money is no object!

Re: Health Care

I could not agree more. Affordable Health Care is one thing, subsidizing to the clueless and reckless is another. It defies nature's ways! But more immediate - it makes affordable care to the deserving more expensive!

Re: Health Care

There is no such thing as free health care. Someone has to pay for it. This is the road that Greece is going down now. This is the same road America is going to go down. Socialism does not work. It is a failed experiment. The people that are in office in the USA are ignorant fools. They think the rich are going to pay for it. All the top 1% are going to do is leave the country. They will denounce their citizenship. This is already happening unless you live in a cave and haven't heard.

Re: Health Care

I can't/won't argue about socialism and the politcal stuff. But the health care we have now is already a failure. I wonder if there are just to many People getting the costly hand outs. Shouldn't everyone pay for everything? It seems like the top 50% of the nation have to drag along the bottom 50%. I understand that there will always be disabled and others who can't work. But isn't there a way we can get the lazy dead beats to work and hold there own? If not then yank thier citizenship. Doesn't everyone have a responsibility to the nation. I didn't put this nation in this decline. But I'll do what ever I need to do to help keep it whole. So far all I see and hear is blame the Poor and Blame the Rich. Where is the fix ?

Re: Health Care

Health Care's original idea was to help people with disabilities get their support and service. They need to live in their homes than having to go to a nursing home. And people with disabilities get support with what they need in their lives. .
