Re: Windows 8;

I installed it this morning, it seems a little smoother, and quicker, but still has that damn DX11 bug that stops me from playing Crysis 2
properly, and only in DX9 mode but apart from that, it is still on my shopping list when released

Nvidia just released new drivers for W8, here's the link, hope it fixes the DX11 bug! Sorry coming next week.

Re: Windows 8;

Yep I installed W-8, it is quicker it seem then W-7. Shut downs, restarts,
faster loading of windows, then W-7. Also noticed more color selections
for the start desktop screen. New AMD W-8 display drivers are working
well. This is all I've discovered so far...

Re: Windows 8;

I agree with all that Sir. It installed with all the latest drivers including AMD vga. However; I just do not like it and even though there are improvements I will skip this OS.

Re: Windows 8;

I forgot to add it did load with all the latest drivers, I understand your
preference rad for W-7. I like W-8 in some ways, I'm still not sure witch
I'll use the most. As I'll most likely get W-8 when it comes out. In the end
I'll settle on one or the other....

Thanks a lot for the heads up fvbounty, wasn't aware they were in the pipeline Hopefully they fix my problem,
as that seems to be about the only thing that doesn't seem to work well on my rig

Hey Pentium4,
Very nice system you have now, didn't notice it before. Everything you have is killer plus a no frills mobo. How's it running and is it pretty fast?

Hi Sandog Thanks for the compliments, am very happy with my system, and not only does it run perfect, stable, cool, and very fast,
but it is dead silent (Have the G.Skill cranked up a little to 2200MHz seeing as I now have that setting option in the bios since putting
in the 3770K, and it only needs 1.57V to run at the same timings as my sig)

Have now switched to no frills boards, as the ultra high spec top models that I always wanted (and usually bought), I found that I never
used any of the bells and whistles that they included , so for the hell of it, I started buying the basic models, and boy what a difference
(for me atleast). Apart from saving money on the board, was pleased to see that the boards had just the right amount of connections, and
plugs for the modest amount of bits I needed to connect, which kept my system looking neat and tidy, without having heaps of empty plugs,
and massive heatsinks. I saw that my system still ran as fast, and cool as it would have on the more expensive, and better endowed bigger
brother boards

Yep you discovered the truth about mobo's. Intel boards are great to for that reason because their no frills models all have good driver support. Asus doesn't really offer much over Intel if you take away extra features but they do make high quality boards. BTW, I do like the extra features and looks of ROG boards. They have great onboard sound.

I have 4x4GB of Redline RAM that will do 2133MHz at low-latencies but that is OC'd and I have to use 1.65V. They are 1600 sticks but they should work fine in a new Z77 mobo. I do not plan on buying new RAM even if it is cheap but I will wait and see how my new IVB CPU OC's.

Re: Windows 8;

Most of my boards have been ASUS and Intel.

It seems like ASUS and Gigabyte offer the most features.
I feel the Intel boards are very dependable.

But you know, I feel like my ASUS M4A89TD Pro USB3 even beat out the
Intel D875PBZ board in dependability

LOVE Intel documentaion, no one else comes close.
This is documentation done by professionals.
Because Intels MBs are so well documented, I am often willing to forgo an extra feature being supplied by their competitors.

Guys answer me this:
It seems quite a few of you are in favor of EVGA and ASRock parts.

I find their documentation so very lacking.
So much so that I mistrust their engineering.

What am I missing?

Re: Windows 8;

Never owned anything from EVGA except video cards. Asrock who?? Which ever board you hold onto longest will become the best remembered. Asus boards last just as long as Intel.
