* The SSD Review SSD Optimization Guide *

I've used the The SSD Review SSD Optimization Guide. I now have higher
benchmarks, quicker shut down, faster reboots. I've include the SSD Tweaker, its a neat little one click app,
that accomplishes much of this as well. Thanks to * The SSD Guy * on The SDD Review forum for his ssd guide.

The SSD Review SSD Optimization Guide

The SSD TWEAKER here...Download SSD Tweaker 2.0.1 Free - Enhance SSD Performance - Softpedia

I've applied the tweaker along with the guide and all is faster for my ssd's
The tweaker is a quick tweak for those who don't like reading guides.
I used both to make sure I got most if all the os tweaked for me ssd's.

By the by I think this would be a great sticky for our ssd forum...

Thanks my friend, we've needed something like this for awhile.
Most of our members are now using ssd's. Now they'll have a
ssd tweaking guide...

Remember also to keep all your drivers up to date. Its important in RAID-O
to use Intel RST. But just not any RST driver some will slow the RAID and
other will speed er up. This where your benchmarking comes in handy. Checking
one RST driver against the other...
Right now this is the best/fastest Intel RST driver for me 3.1.0.1068

Re: * The SSD Review SSD Optimization Guide *

I don't understand the recommendation to turn off system restore.
Is it about avoiding the automatic recovery point? That only runs periodically. Otherwise there should be no impact on performance?

I think that one is about space, not performance.
I don't use any tweaks. I do always check to confirm that Windows has automatically disabled scheduled defrag (it does) and I reduce the space used by system restore to 3%, but that's it.

Yea I believe your right Pete, some of these small ssd's 60-64gig need
all the space they can get. I leave restore on in my system...

Re: * The SSD Review SSD Optimization Guide *

I have a few 60GB ssd's running Win 7 32bit and a clean install is under 10 GB.

On a 64 bit system with 8 GB of ram, I turned off the page file and this made the most difference by reduced the size of the OS by several gig ...

Skully, were you using Intel toolbox before ?

Re: * The SSD Review SSD Optimization Guide *

I have restore turned off and set the page file to static size of 760Mb. Do not need restore with a system image saved on a USB-HHD which I update regularly.

Yeah I use Intel toolbox, the last time I used it.
Was to secure erase my two 520 drives for a fresh
windows install...
