Because Intels MBs are so well documented, I am often willing to forgo an extra feature being supplied by their competitors...
My guess is that the documentation for Intel products is created in the US; as opposed to Taiwan or PROC.

Re: Windows 8;

Eh, I playing with MintLinux right now. I don't have time for Win8 - from what I've read, not much has changed functionally. When somebody figures out how to start without the ghey colored "Start" page and go straight to the desktop, I'll be happier. I think I'll be sticking with Win7 as my main desktop till Win8 SP1 comes out.

Re: Windows 8;

Off topic, but this forum site is not too busy. I was just looking around in Windows 7 registry to kill time and came across the date this operating system was released. In about 6 weeks it'll be 3 years. Oh BTW there was an update just out too. kb2718704

Re: Windows 8;

I don't agree yet but I haven't tried it. Read this comment post from the article.
"Cry, cry... I have been using windows 8 UI and it is great. People just hate change. I think windows 8 will go far. I bet he is a mac fanboy. By just reading some of the comments from people who actually used win8 I can see that he put no time into using windows 8. Give it a good run, find out how to use it properly before you go off saying things like that. Win 8 is going to be huge and MS put in a lot of effort into making a great successor to win7."

I think that if it is too much like Windows 7 then there is no point. I also thought you could disable the tablet type interface (touch screen stuff) if you didn't want to use it. I think it will have better hardware support and I've read it is even quicker than Win7. Intel is suppose to support RAID with SSD TRIM in Win8.

Re: Windows 8;

Well, unlike the quote from a guy that Sandog has posted...

I TOTALLY disagree...

And I HAVE tried it.

It is a mess.....a total departure from a 17 year, hard won, user experience.

And it will be an "unmitigated disaster".......

The "Wall Street Journal Writer" (who happens to be John C. Dvorak.... A guy who you may not always agree with.... But who's common sense approach is hard to question)..... Is basically spot on.

And Dvorak is totally right when he says "no business will touch this"....
Nor Government
Nor Military
Nor Schools

It has a very high learning curve and will be a productivity nightmare.

And it is all so senseless and unlike Microsoft's usual Incremental approach that has been so successful in the past.

And it it so easily fixable..... Just offer a "classic" experience in addition to Metro and NOW Business and others could stomach it.

But..... What do I know....

I will buy the darn thing for a computer or two...

Why??? It's what I do.......

A bleeding edger to the bitter end....

Re: Windows 8;

Both my board and videocard are Asus
As for Win8.. microsoft is gambling on "it is new so it must be better" and the unwavering unconditional blind faith of their worshippers (maybe it's me but lately there seems to a be a trend of people worshipping EVERY bit of new soft and hardware)
I have technet but I doubt i'll go for 8 (yes I know I used to say that about vista but using 7 made me appreciate vista however 8 is a whole different story)

I have said this before. We are a minority. Most people are not builders, gamers, enthuseists, but are what we call newbs. They will hate it. Microsoft made 8 for a touch screen device period. If you love it on your desktop type PC well good for you. You are in a minority period. BTW I have tried the recent preview release. Not for long as I learn fast. I don't need a lot of time on it to learn to love it. If I had it on a touch device, even without trying it yet on such a device, I know it would be great. This OS was not made for a desktop PC. You are on to something about if it were like 7 there would be no point. I believe because 7 is the best OS ever MS would not sell 8,9,or even 10. So the truth is they are throwing the desktop user under the bus because they have to if they want to be profitable. They are in the software business and designed an OS for the future as they perceive it to be. The gamers desktop is not what MS sees in the future.

Agree totally.....

But the problem is that at least for the time being....before the world natuarlly transitions totally to mobile....

"Real work is done on real PCs" .....to paraphrase something I saw on the internet.

Microsoft is throwing a 17 year relationship with business......and the basic working world.....under the bus.....

They could leverage their current but fading strength with a transition process......not a radical change that will be difficult to learn.....

I understand them wanting to converge their OS to a model that covers Phone, Tablet, and PC.....but it's just too late for them to do it....

No business will buy it....
It will be a disaster
And Microsoft will HAVE to issue a scaled back more transitionary Windows 9 fairly quickly
And in the meantime, folks like Apple and Google will have increased market share even more.....and Microsoft's influence will have shrunk even more.

And....jeepers....not even the world's new big boy, Apple, has tried to force one OS for all devices.

And Apple is more arrogant then ANYONE!

What MS is doing with this new OS just escapes me.....

Are they trying to fail?? I just don't get it.

Just mix a souped up Windows 7 Interface in with Metro....give the user the option of either....

And the thing will sell successfully.....VERY successfully....

I don't get it......I just don't get it.....

I agree John, I haven't even looked at W8, except what has been posted here, no interest at all, even Paul Thurrott who loves microsoft and made his living for years writing books about there software, doesn't understand what there doing!
