Overclock Your CPU.

Here is a thread with info. on overclocking your unlocked Intel CPU's. Intel has been designing and marketing toward the PC enthusiast for a decade and has come to fully embrace overclocking. I started this thread due to the highly overclock-able Intel i7-5960X CPU.

The Intel website below will help explain and guide you in overclocking your CPU.

Overclock Your CPU with Unlocked Intel® Processors

Here is a really good utility that will show you every setting and parameter that effects your CPU's performance and allow you to make changes and test those changes. It also allows you to compare your results online with similar systems and make improvements.

Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility (Intel® XTU)

Re: Overclock Your CPU.

Here is a screeny of IXTU.

After you run the benchmark just click on 'Compare Online'. You do not have to logon. You will see the screen below.

Move the small black window over to the side and close out the middle window like below.

Once you have the screen above click on 'Analyze' and you will see the screen below.

If you click on the red dot (my system) or the dots pointed to with the green arrows you will see that systems settings on the right. I posted a partial pic of it below. You can use these settings to make adjustments to your system. You can then quickly rerun the benchmark in iXTU and see if your score improved. After you upload your new score, there will be other new systems in your range to compare to again and you can repeat the process. You can run iXTU and also monitor your clocks, temps, and voltages while the benchmark is running. It is an amazing tool.

Re: Overclock Your CPU.

I spent 5min with this utility and I am on 4.5GHz. I plan on thoroughly going through testing and coming up with a good OC on my CPU that will act as Turbo mode under load. I am going to have a lot of fun tuning this system but I am waiting right now to get my WC loop installed. It will be awhile yet.

Re: Overclock Your CPU.

Interesting. They've really jumped in. They're even selling "overclocking protection Plans" now. LOL!
