Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)
Yup, it didn't work. Apparently it lied when it said "BIOS update completed successfully!".
I've just spent two hours (I'm tired, up late, yet again wasting hours of my life on this board) trying to get the BIOS updated. It seemed to completely ignore recovery mode, and of course the nice friendly Windows tool doesn't work. In the end I had to download an ISO of DOS 6 (google for 'dos boot cd'), added IFLASH and the BIOS image to it using MagicISO (it can add files to ISOs), set SATA to IDE mode so DOS could see the CD drive, and run IFLASH manually. And after all this mucking around (and doublechecking with CPU-Z - definitely says 0093 now)... no difference. My statement stands: The ATI 4870x2 is still a no-go with this board. At least now I've got a solid method for updating the BIOS; I can provide a copy of the customised ISO file if anyone's interested in using it themselves. |

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)
What version of windows are you running the update tool in? Both of my boards had version bios ver 0073. I updated both boards to ver 0083 with the update tool without any issues. I ran the tool from WinXP sp3 or was it sp2 either way it was XP not Vista.

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)
When i leave the memory settings in auto which displays 77720 1066 1.55V, I never get any on/off/on or freezes.

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)
ok so originally i thought i updated the BIOS through the express way, but that didn't work so I used a windows boot cd and installed that way. The auto setting still shows up at 1066MHz auto default setting like before. I am going to try to run at 1333 at 1.7V and we'll see how stable it is

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)
Wow I was surprised to see that the last BIOS update didn't even get the Desktop Control panel fixed. It sure doesn't seem like Intel is supporting this board very well. I wonder what's up?

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)
That's what we all get from Intel hiring FoxConn to produce and support this motherboard.
In essense we haven't got an Intel board. We've got a FoxConn board originally designed in cooperation with Intel, but from there on... it's all FoxConn. Just my two cents! |

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)
Besides... everyone at FoxConn and Intel is now purely focused on Nehalem (Core i7) and it's X58 chipset motherboard parts.

Now, I'm very happy user of one of this SuperMicro board->> C2SBA+II. Super Micro Computer, Inc. - Products | Motherboards | Core™ 2 Boards | C2SBA+II Was very hard to find here in Europe, but the motherboard is very stable at the moment. All work like should be. Even the thermal regulation from the mobo BIOS work perfectly (all fans are 4 pin PWM). Memory-from the Kingston web page-work on first. Four IDE devices- my two old HDD and CD/DVD are with me also. There is FDD on board-no problem to install XP whatsoever-no nLite, no focuses, no USB FDD, no slipstream, no nothing-all was quick and efficiently. This board has no issue whatsoever-i put one cheap Club 3D Radeon 4670 (my preferred card branch) and Quad Core 6600. All is fine until now. Not able to provide more info here... out of scope. Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)
Intel has dedicated workers supporting this board. I spoke to tech. support and the guy went over to the lab to look at the board while I was on the phone. Foxconn might have built the board but they don't support it, Intel does. Rumors that Intel is not supporting this board are false. They will continue to support this board until it is discontinued. I to am waiting for IDCC to come out and better drivers/BIOS but right now my board is still running well although not perfect.

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)
Look Sandog,
I appreciate very much your dedication and your help to the users here, but tell me, 3-4 months is not enough for some basic functions to start to work? the on/off problem is small problem? It is so difficult to make the IDCC to work 5-6 months after the board was starting? beside that this IDCC must work from the beginning. I do not understand such philosophy- i.e product with 2/3 functionality which we make better, 1 year after, step by step, with small steps. Last edited by panzerino; 10-27-2008 at 02:05 PM.. |

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)
Mine does not go on/off/on when I leave the RAM in AUTO detect. It shuts down and starts up like a normal computer. It even can go to sleep or stand by without any problem. Overall I haven't had any problems other than my RAM not running at 1333 speed.

Re: Intel DP45SG (Skyburg)
Well got my board today and it should be no surprise to anyone that it wont post (coming up with the dreaded 3 beeps = memory error).
I simply wont work at all with my OCZ gold 1333 9-9-9-24 1.7v 2Gb sticks. Not with one, two or four sticks in any given combination. I'm guessing it's because the sticks won't run at all at 1.5v which this board seems so hellbend on running! Well I guess I had i coming ordering this board allthough everyone is having memory problems... I'm returning my memory and trying some Corsair XMS3 DHX 1333 9-9-9-24 1.6v 2Gb sticks instead. I'll keep you posted but I have a bad feeling about this..... Der Keyser |
