Re: Post your Windows 7 performance index

"From MS

On the matter of write caching, we very much believe it is a mistake that the WinEI score improves dramatically when write caching is disabled. We don't recommend disabling write caching and are working to understand how best to prevent the scores from improving so dramatically simply by disabling the cache. We do know, that write caching typically helps best with large sequential reading sequences and that disabling the cache prevents the build up of background work that may later interfere w/ subsequent reads. In other words, with caching disable we don't see the very long IOs that result in our capping the score at a low level ................."

Re: Post your Windows 7 performance index

Thanks to ChuckBam for sharing with us the MS email. It reminds us not to blindly trust the results of a test until we all understand how the test itself is constructed! Apparently the construction of the WEI (and the results that flow from it) is contentious within MS itself.

Re: Post your Windows 7 performance index

I think if everyone tests by default (WC-enabled) it is relevant.

My scores are 7.3, 7.3, 6.8, 6.8 and 5.3. That's top to bottom. I'm using 64-bit build 7100.

Re: Post your Windows 7 performance index

Hard Disks are truly the only component of the PC which is holding it back performance wise, and the longest lasting PC technology ever (it was introduced in 1954 believe it or not).

The less moving parts, the better lol

Re: Post your Windows 7 performance index

As soon as the official Win7 comes out I will post an Index of this Intel 80GB SSD. It is the new rev. that supports TRIM. That is if the Firm Ware is out in time.

The Black part is really silver. All my pics came out Brown or Black where it should be silver.
