I need an SSD. Maybe for XMAS I'll get two.

Skully how do you get 7.8 with a single 5870?

I run it fully oc'ed, in fact I run the oc 24/7 without a problem...
With your setup you'd think a 7.9..
I don't trust Windows 7 performance index at all.....

Go to advance view and look under graphics. How much memory does yours have? Look above and mine says 4851/2048MB. I'm wondering if your 12GB RAM is helping your graphics score.

Windows experience..is not working and a few other problems.
My heavy oc'ing has corrupted windows and I have no backup.
Windows restore also went south......
I set everything back to defaults, and still the same bad news.
I'll have to do a fresh install soon.....

7.6 is a very high score for a single card.

Skully you must have had yours extrememly OC'd. I get 7.7 with two 5850's at 900MHz core.

I believe the score runs benchmarks because you see it but I also believe it takes into account the type of hardware you are using. It would be a little hard to build a 7.9 WEI system.

Re: Post your Windows 7 performance index

I think the Experience Index is a good test because you get consistent scores. With a latest bios update (more memory compatible) I get a mem score of 7.8 vs. 7.9. Before I RAID (ed) my two SSD drives, I was getting a 7.8. PC Wizard would give the detail of the Index scores with Vista, but, I don't think it does with Win7

So many benchmarks I run give me a large variance from on run to the next.

Nice looking build Sandog!! I recently started re-casing my system. I think I will close it today. I have two PCI TV cards so I need to put the Vid on the bottom. It runs at 16x

NICE!

I've noticed my scores change over time which MS is probably raising the bar to handle the new hardware arriving. I would think you should get a 7.9 for a stock speed 980X. My score might increase accross the board with an SSD. I am not bothered by the scores I get unless Windows is controlled by the WEI score which I doubt. Windows should just run as fast as possible. WEI is a tool to show you your weakest link and point you to your next upgrade in order to improve performance.

I searched the web for 7.9 and found a guy asking his wife if he could build a 7.9 WEI computer. Pretty ingenious. 7.9 WIE also called GOM or God's Own Machine.
