Re: Post your Windows 7 performance index

Nice case Chuck, I admired the P6T when it first came out. I got my mobo because is was availbable when my Intel board died. My case was built a long time ago but the two HD5850's were added last December and the ASUS mobo last March. I haven't done anything to it except take pictures.

Go to CP and look under system. There you see the Windows Experience Index. Find "Performance Information and Tools" on the left and go there. Then look at "Advanced Tools" at the top left. Run the top program that erases old scores. You can view the detailed information when you complete the test.

Sorry Sandog, I did not know that it was the Windows Experience Index you were talking about.

Newegg had a Lancool PC-K58 on sale for around 60 bucks with cheap shipping. I was changing out my HD 4850 anyway. My old case grew into a big mess. After I purchased it I decided to buy two 140mm fans that fit on the top. They included it with the same case in more expensive models.

PS:
I purchased the P6T because of the location of the PCI slots for my two Theater Pro 650s

Re: Post your Windows 7 performance index

I bought my mobo because it was the latest 3rd gen. P6T>P6Tv2>P6X58D
I might sell mine and get the P6X58D-E since it is essentially a more modern board albeit stripped down somewhat but it does RAID on SATA3. Something I might need later on when I do get a couple of SSD's so right now no need to upgrade. There will be even better boards out by the time I get an SSD (XMas).

My case was only $59 but it is my second one. I cut the first one up to make room for a 5890. I would not change a thing on this case except one small detail. The reset button is hard to push/find but I never hardly use it. I want to get two SSD's in my 3rd 5-1/4 drive bay. That way I will have nothing below obstructing my two 120mm LED fans. Then it will be an even better cooled case which it is already outstanding.

Looks like you have an newer case since the PS is located on the bottom. It looks like a good build. I had my old case for a few years. It was time to go and needed a good cleaning anyway.

What Phase Power Design does the P6X58D-E have? I have added one of these for the USB 3.0. Even though I don't have any 3.0 devices yet. I do have a 1 TB hard drive on it and it gets great performance.

Your right it did (I should update my sig) I sent it back I couldn't get rid of the second screen flickering, there's a fix now but when I had it it was out yet and I couldn't take the flickering, that score is with a 8800 gt g92,

I got my case right when the new Antec Gamer series came out (900/300). I then upgraded myself to the Illusion version by buying aother blue LED fan. Then I bought an Illusion after cutting the case up. Cheap case but very good.

The P6X58D-E is identical even in layout except 1 LAN, newer Marvel SATA controller. Also Express gate chip is gone and they removed all the board traces as well, not just the chip footprint. It also is missing the Reset button but has power, clear cmos, memOK. It also does not have the heatpipe going to the side MOSFET heat sink. It does not come with the extra fan. All things are better IMO, I don't use any of the missing items but this is basically a new revision of the P6X58D they just made it cheaper to differentiate it otherwise they would not have been able to rename the board. I will wait until I am ready to get a couple of SSD's before I make the switch. IMO this is one of the best boards out there, here's why:

1. ASUS
2. Pretty much ASUS's 3.5 generation X58 mobo (around 2yrs after original).
3. No legacy (IDE/Floppy/Serial/PCI 1.0 slots) but it does have 2 PS/2 ports on the back of the board.
4. It has the most modern interfaces (USB 3.0 -2ea.) and SATA3 (6GB and does RAID -2ea.)
5. Very affordable, great reviews, OC's as good as any X58 (except maybe RIIIE).

If I don't end up getting 2 SSD's later and RAIDing them there is really no reason for me to upgrade to the P6X58D-E. I can easily sell my current board and buy the cheaper P6X58D-E if I want to though.

Re: Post your Windows 7 performance index

[QUOTE=chuckbam;1479014]Sorry Sandog, I did not know that it was the Windows Experience Index you were talking about.

That's a good looking case. There are a huge number of good cases out there nowadays. I try to stick with ANTEC but have used LIAN LI in the past. LIEN LI are too noisy (aluminum), too light, and too soft/easy to scratch for me. I like ANTEC steel. The Antecs are cheap to buy and play around with. One consideration is water cooling which I do not do anymore (except closed Corsair system).

Check these new cases:

Antec - Dark Fleet

My last case was the classic LIEN LI aluminum. This one is CECC Steel and plastic.

Re: Post your Windows 7 performance index

I fixed my Antec Dark Fleet link.

Antec - Dark Fleet

From now on when posting a link you have to use the 'Insert Link' button and paste the link otherwise your link goes to go.abxzone.com. You can not
just paste a link where you type.

Sandog, you still get that problem with some links and the 'Insert Link'. Check your link now.

Nice case!
