Re: 32bit or 64bit

Nope sorry neither of those..
And you said you understand the term "snappy".. well it does seem snappier to me..
Btw.. if your board could support more than 4 ya can't go wrong I guess.. but even 4 GB will come fully available I believe whereas in 32 it's only 3 GB something
I will prolly upgrade mine to 8.. Can't buy an OEM 7 without upgrading any form of memory at my shop anyway

Sorry quick edit.. lol My Dawn of waar (1 not 2) seems to play faster even on 64

Re: 32bit or 64bit

I know that going from 4G to 8G made my Vista 64 SP2 system snappier & smoother. I would image the same will be true for W7 (Vista 1.5)

WRT the 4G mark - it's about a wash. x64 uses more memory (64b data chunks vs 32b) so the difference isn't very significant. I'd go with 32b if I would be stuck at 4GB (like a laptop, for example).

Re: 32bit or 64bit

I wonder if we have to go through this exercise when 128-bit is out? i.e. 8 to 16G RAM?

64 bit can address a lot more than 16G of Ram. The limitation is the motherboards. The theoretical limit of 64 bit is 17.2 billion gigabytes.

So 128 bit is a long way out for desktop machines.
