Re: Most economic way to buy windows xp ?

I think what lifeishell is trying to say is..

It was midnight one early morning
Two dead boys got up to fight
Stood back to back, facing each other...
Drew their swords and killed each other.
A deaf cop heard the noise and...
Came and killed the two dead boys !!

Re: Most economic way to buy windows xp ?

This guy sells XP Pro Retail keys for 15.00 USD:
Windows Xp Professional Retail Product Key (With Service Pack 3) (DVD)

This is the same vendor that a bunch of us have bought Win 7 & Office 2007 keys from. The keys are genuine and activate and pass validation. See this thread for more details:

Re: Most economic way to buy windows xp ?

They are not corporate (bulk license) keys. They are retail. I called Microsoft, told them the situation, gave them one of the keys and asked them to tell me if it was a valid key and if it was ever activated. They told me that it was valid and that it was never activated. They also mentioned that it was an "MSDN" key. I am not sure if this guy is supposed to be selling them, but they are valid keys.

First, let me say thanks for "going the extra mile" and reporting back here for our benefit...

You've got to admit though, that something just doesn't "smell right" about this. I'm not saying it's illegal or something to that effect, but if it were "more kosher", we'd be seeing Amazon sell them! Why limit these offers to one guy on a relatively speaking, little known website, right?

That said, I'm tempted to give the W7 Pro for $22 a shot.

Re: Most economic way to buy windows xp ?

I think I have figured out what's happening. These guys have paid for tech net accounts and are selling valid keys and then either uploading the software or pointing you to a win 7 software download.

A bit on the shady side but the recipients get valid software and keys.

I am guessing it will cease when M$ finds out whats happening. This is true only for USA. It varies from country to country.

The other is that students can buy win 7 for $30 legit. Now I don't know but they are probably violating the terms of their purchase agreement if they are reselling their copies.

I just went and reread some of the posts and the MSDN keys are the Tech net subscription keys..

Re: Most economic way to buy windows xp ?

Just did the deed. Will let everyone know how it worked out. Here's the info on "geniusbuy" according to paypal for anyone interested:

mittal eartmovers
yogeshmittal.imtn@gmail.com
+91 919748630 x373

You'll note the non-U.S. telephone number. +91 means s/he's located in India. This should be interesting.

The info is on my paypal receipt. According to reports here the keys are legit, even if the distribution method isn't. How long this lasts is another question altogether.

I got my email with keys from geniusbuy within 2 minutes- currently downloading...

Re: Most economic way to buy windows xp ?

Activation is activation. It shouldn't matter if it's online or by phone.

Re: Most economic way to buy windows xp ?

Hi Peter, The reason i asked is because i messaged the seller GeniusBuy and he said hes never tried phone activation. But internet activation should work he says. Thats why i asked. Have you had any problems so far with this software. And finally most importantly. When you call MS to activate do they take your name and details etc during registration. I would prefer that as proof so that when i need support in the future and would also serve as evidence towards legit ownership.

Please do let me know.
