Re: Windows 7 Tip of the Week: Save Even More Money with a TechNet Standard Subscript

I had the old Technet subscription when you got ten keys per now it is limited and I was smart enough to get keys for the Enterprise versions of Windows 7 which is great. You have to try running the Server 2008R2 as a desktop system there is a whole forum on the tweaks to get it to run like a stripped down version of Windows 7 just Google the info, called convert your windows 2008 server to a workstation. Enjoy

Ok something bout this still throws me off.. the FAQ says you can't use the technet software for a live operating environment.. only evaluation But you do get keys so you are allowed anyway?

Sorry I missed the reply from Sylar. Win7 XP mode or compatibility mode didn't alow games to play. Never heard that virtualbox will run games in win7 with accelerated graphics either.

Think vmware might have that.. I guess that is one of the small things that separates buyware from freeware?

Re: Windows 7 Tip of the Week: Save Even More Money with a TechNet Standard Subscript

Loks like MS is pushing out another OS.. unless Im wrong and WHS 2011 isn't one?
As for people who want an alternative for Xp mode Vmware player is being praised as the perfect substitute.. the player which is free, not the workstation

Thanks for the heads up. I've been waiting for them to release the final and post it to TechNet. I'lll go download the ISO and keys now.
I started a thread on it here, but not many seemed to be interested:

EDIT: Just checked. I don't see WHS 2011 on TechNet yet...

Re: Windows 7 Tip of the Week: Save Even More Money with a TechNet Standard Subscript

Hm I guess they must have been wrong on Sevenforums then
On a sidenote.. why doesn't Microsoft work out the DX9/DX11 thing.. from what I gather they claim DX11 substittues DX9 apis but in fact when you want to play a DX9 game on Vista or 7 you have to install the whole DX9
