Re: Windows 8;

I read an article recently that Micro$oft is trying to lock out all other operating systems ie; linux.In other words, any ARM gear that ships with Windows 8 will never run another operating system.

" In 1912, three of the ten biggest companies in the world were J&P Coats, Pullman, and U.S. Steel. They were giants in their day. Today, they’re either business history footnotes or shadows of their former selves. Why in the world should we think Microsoft will be any different? I wrote recently about Microsoft trying to block any other operating system from running on Windows 8 ARM-powered devices . While Ed Bott think that seeing this as an attack on Linux and other operating systems is FUD, I don’t think that’s the point. "

Re: Windows 8;

Here is a quote. "Back to the big question: should you buy Windows 8 as soon as it comes out? Well, the vast majority of its new features are designed to maximize the touch screens that many future computers will have. So while Windows 8 will work on your existing PC, I wouldn't go to the expense and hassle of upgrading a current device that doesn't have a touchscreen. One caveat, that's based on the initial look we've gotten at the Beta version of Win 8, and as with all things tech, new developments may alter the decision making process for consumers. "

MHO is just because it's new does not equate to better.

Well, I guess I keep repeating this, the system internals are better. But Mickey$oft had to go and put a ghey new interface on it (I really do not want a Win7 phone interface on my desktop PC).

According to who? Some Micro$oft employee pretending to be something else. Just because you read it does not make it true. Vista/Win-7/Win-8 is still bloatware. In saying that with each OS succession mentioned has been trimmed down, but only a bit. Remember when they released service packs to improve the OS? Five for 2000 and 3 for XP. My guess is that will not happen ever again because it does not make $$$$. Win-8 is not out yet and they are alreay working on Win-10.

Re: Windows 8;

For the record I do not hate Win-7 or Win-8. I despise Corporate greed, however in saying this I realize that if your business is selling software then I guess Microsoft needs to do what it is they do to make $$$.$$ They do have a lot of people working and that is a good thing. http://activewin.com/reviews/previews/windows8devprev/

Re: Windows 8;

Can not figure out how to customize IE-10. Move the menubar to the top and move the buttons to the left of the browser bar.

Re: Windows 8;

I'd like to begin with; now I see why microsoft fired 5,000 emplyees. They spent years developing an OS for a smart phone then decided to say it is also for the desktop PC. LOL! what a joke. Oh By the way, I no longer have it installed on my PC. Do not fall for any propaganda they will try to get you to buy this dare I even say operating system. I heard all of the arguements about how it is beta the real OS finale is going to be all different. LOL! Yea well I have a bridge in Arizone I would definately like to sell you my friend. LOL. Do not fall for how fast it is being adobted too. As of about October people that want to buy a desktop or laptop will in a heartbeat take that crap off before they get home. Just MHO.

Re: Windows 8;

The consumer preview is coming on the 29th. I had the developer preview which I call beta because that's what it is. They are avoiding using that term you know.

Re: Windows 8;

I'm waiting for the beta, I'll need to partition my Raid-0 array. Hope it doesn't screw up my boot loader.
