Question No sound from MP4 in Media Player

Good mo-L-ning 2 all!

I have on my desktop an MP4 movie that plays in MP but plays completely silent. I'm sure it has sound because I've recorded that with my cellphone.

In one of those microsoft sites they suggested downloading K-Lite:

"Windows 7 64 bit MP4 problems" = http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...f-69865a0fcabe

I downloaded K-Lite Basic and now IE9 states:

"This program is not commonly downloaded and could harm your computer".

Whatha!

Thoughts?

Re: No sound from MP4 in Media Player

You mean the message comes up when you click on the dl link?
Is it an exe package? IE9 should throw a warning if its an exe.

If you're worried, try a different mirror site.

Re: No sound from MP4 in Media Player

You got to have a good codec pack and K-lite is what I use. Some of these sites try to bundle it with some BS. Like tool bar crap etc. The codec pack itself isn't harmful to your computer.

Thanks Speed & Zap.

However after sniffing around I found this guy that thinks otherwise (below). Please read:

http://www.howtogeek.com/wiki/Why_Codec_Packs_Are_Bad

Then I ended up using "Pazera Free MP4 to AVI Converter" to convert the original file and kept everything else untouched.

Pazera is a no-install program that runs from a single directory root and leaves ABSOLUTELY NO GARBAGE behind (I mean "ABSOLUTELY" because "garbage" is mostly a subjective concept).

It's an interface to FFMpeg (http://www.ffmpeg.org/index.html), which comes "bundled" (same directory root). Gonna dig into the latter when I need to and have more time.
