Well I haven't read or seen anything anywhere so far to put me off Windows 8. In fact, I've seen some shtuff that looks decent.
Anything that makes computers more usable has got to be a good thing so if they can come up with a new style of gui that makes things easier then good on them.

I have concerns about security and privacy; so long as I can continue to lock down and control my machine I'll be happy. Dont want no ubiquitous cloud hovering over my head

I will not spend money for a windows 7 that simply looks different, and that's basically what 8 is going to be.
