Another thought is the video card display driver.
If ya are running the latest one then maybe try an older one.

Run a light stress test on the video card, they have free GPU stress testers
on the net.

Re: Experiencing Freezes...

I'm back. I cleaned out the cobwebs. It looked like a haunted house in there. No joke. Strange. Anyway, I am using the latest nVidia drivers and updated DirectX. I'm going to look for a GPU stress test now.

Then I'm going to try playing again to see if the problem reoccurs, assuming GPU stress test passes without a hitch.

BBL.

EDIT: Gonna use FurMark 1.9.2 for testing.

After the stress test you might roll back to earlier drivers, did the problem start after installing the latest Nvidia drives?

Re: Experiencing Freezes...

10094 frames and 15 minutes later. At a resolution of 2048x1152 with no Anti-Aliasing, my GPU hit a high of 86 under 100% load with an average FPS of 12.

No locks up; surprisingly smooth as silk (not the low frame rate, but the stability of the card).

Now, while playing games, I never get near those temps. I'm not pushing the system anywhere near that hard.

Is it presumptuous to assume it's not the vid card? Also, if it were the power supply, would something have happened under a 15 minute stress test? I'm going to try playing the game again. If it crashes, I'll record how long it took, and then run 2 passes of Memtest (it may not be the 3-4 hours, but I remember when building that we could be confident with 2 passes right? according to the law of large numbers)

I'll report back. Also, Real Temp supposedly has a logging feature, but I can't find the log. Any ideas where that might be? So I can track the temp after a crash. EDIT: I had to turn on logging myself from the .ini file. Got it.

Maybe just cleaning everything up got it, I hope, but memtest will let you know your ram is OK!

Not real familiar with your video card but that temp seem high to me.... Maybe someone else will chime in. In a benchmark that temp isn't bad but I really think that's a bit on the high side in a game.
