Never thought I'd pay that much for so few GBs again. Felt like it was 1998 again and I was going from 150mb drive to a 250mb drive !!

Is there anything I need to know about installing a SSD? I plan on doing a complete install of Win 7 64 with the other new components. I will just backup anything I want to save on one of my other "older" drives before I start building.
Just make sure to turn on ACHI in the bios for your sata, In fact I think your MB will come default ACHI (mine did), turn off auto defrag (you never defrag a ssd), there are other things too but for the start those are the most important!

Re: Upgrading and need advice

Well, I seem to have run into my first problem! The SSD only has instructions for installing in a laptop only. It includes no power cord, brackets or SATA cable. The SATA cable I have extras of but I don't have a power cable!!! Are power cables universal as I have one that looks like it will fit from my 500GB drives?

Congrats on the parts arrival.
SATA power cables are universal. Make sure you use a SATA III data cable for the SSD.
Have fun!

Alright, I'm golden. The ASUS board comes with 2 SATA-III cables and I have several power cords from my old drives. I was worried there for a moment. I do need to see about mounting this thing as it is small!!
