Nvidia Desktop Manager Keeps Disabling Itself....Help

Hi Guys,

Need some help from you. My system has an Nvidia card 8400gs. Hooked up to 2 monitors. Everything was working fine. But i freshly installed Win XP pro and reinstalled all my old softwares as was. I never had this problem before but now i find the nvidia desktop manager panel is automatically getting disabled.

When i right click on the desktop and choose Nvidia properties a panel shows up right. There you will see a toggle button which has ENABLE for desktop manager. This button always stays enabled and pressed. But now after the reinstall i find it keeps on disabling itself. Any ideas please ?

Thanks
Vik

Download an older version. Then uninstall the driver your on and install the older driver. See if that works.

Scroll down this page http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us You will see a title "beta and older drivers."

Well just fantastic, and the drivers from Nvidia and AMD/ATI have been buggy for some lately.

Re: Nvidia Desktop Manager Keeps Disabling Itself....Help

Thats sad, why do they release such drivers which ruin their name in the industry. In fact my nvidia desktop manager, even the correct version just never works correctly when switching profiles etc. Its a hit or miss. It will work once and crash twice per attempt. If i try to switch to a different profile, say from spanned dual display to single display etc ill end up with windows errors and watson errors. But once ina while itll work. This is with no other program running simultaneously. Really disappointing products that leave a bad after taste.

Are there any alternatives to NVidia and ATI cards that are provenly more stable ??

Just an update. Now after installing the original drivers that came on the product dvd, the problem hasnt recurred. I guess the latest drivers have bugs like you say. But Nvidia always says "ensure you have the latest drivers for your product or download them from our website" but ofcourse they didnt say it works well.
