This is Tuesday.... and you are waiting for Friday for a PSU to arrive????

Unless you are updating your progress from a Laptop... it would have been missing one PSU hours ago....

But then again, Jerry, I take you for the type that actually waits for Christmas morning to open your presents.

Looking really good Jerry, that cooler is perfect for that MB, plenty of room for more ram, doesn't cover any ram slot.

I think I'll probably get another 16gb kit and put in it. I still need to get a video card. I don't do any gaming so I am not needing anything to outrageous.

Hahaha, I know that is what I will do to lol. This Mushkin is like candy. I know I don't need >16Gb now and probably never will but it looks cool and not too expensive. If I do plan on getting some it would be a while after I get Haswell going. I know if you are planning to get more RAM it is best to do it now because it will be difficult to find the exact same RAM again a year from now.

If you don't game anymore, the on chip graphics may well be good enough. Might be worth trying it out, if you need more oomf, spring for some lower end card (gk107 based if you go with Nvidia).

Re: New build maybe

Awesome build Griff! You have a more modern computer than I do. How do you like the case now? Do you like the Cougar fans?

Yes it is a very nice case and easy to build in. It is very quite. I have only had it running for about 1 hour so I cannot say to much about the fans.

Re: New build maybe

Griff,

I remember you getting an Intel SSD for the first time. Are you installing Windows fresh? You should because you require all new drivers. Don't forget to install Intel SSD Toolbox. It auto configures Windows to prevent detrimental usage of the SSD and it also has a built-in SSD optimizer (TRIM function). You also need the latest Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST) driver.

You should have a desktop now that will run cool, run silent, and last forever with the Asus Z77 mobo and Intel 3770K. With Windows running on the SSD you have the fastest system you can get. My next system will be identical to yours except for Z87 and 4770K. Good upgrade! Enjoy!
