Window 7 Desktop Gadgets.

Hey guys/gals,

My single desktop gadget doesn't work properly. I can't get the weather gadget to find my location for some reason. I troubleshot it and found this.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...nalize/gadgets

This is sad.

I am also very disappointed that the webpage for win7 gadgets is no longer showing gadgets available for download for win7. Did someone accidentally permanently delete them? Did the webpage hosting them become corrupted and everyone at M$ is too stupid to recreate it? Is everyone at M$ now a moron?

If it's there, then show them. Or give them to someone else to host if you don't want them.

This makes me want to NEVER buy a M$ product. The company is too tyrannical for me.

Is there a non-M$ location to get win7 gadgets? There were a few for download only from the M$ website that I never got that I wish I had.

BTW ... the four built in win7 weather gadgets I run all work fine. Once in a while a connection is broken but it always comes back.

Re: Window 7 Desktop Gadgets.

Hey guys, I did what both of your are mentioning. I searched for the gadgets to no avail. I found the CNET download FVB is pointing to as well but what I really want is my original MS gadget which I couldn't find. I actually probably don't need to find it. I have it and it runs, thing is it comes up with New York, NY as the city. Any attempt to find another city comes up blank. It also says last time updated = 4 days ago (yesterday). The gadget no worky now, MS disabled it somehow IMO.

Re: Window 7 Desktop Gadgets.

Just loaded Weather again and all I got was an empty blue gadget. This blows. If MS disabled theirs what makes you think third party apps are going to work?

Re: Window 7 Desktop Gadgets.

Actually I don't mind Windows 8 too much.

But what I'm getting a feeling ...I haven't paid too much attention to it...

Is that Miscrosoft is trying to be "All things PC" by making them the ONLY source for PC apps. THAT is CRAZY.

The Microsoft STORE is trying to Emulate Apple in the selling of ITUNES.
Another crazy concept that I will never buy into.

Manufacturers try to corner markets...and it almost never works...
I remember fondly IBM's Micro Channel Architecture.... and their most famous fiasco EBCIDIC...

If I find MS continuing to thwart outside developers from contributing to the platform, I will drop MS in a blink of an eye.

I would migrate not to APPLE(which I find worse) but some Linux variant.

Freedom in programming and fair markets.

I know where the virus came from; it was not from the gadget.

Thanks for the reply fv.

The link shows win 10 gadgets only and I did not see the weather bug gadget which you posted above which I beleive you were running on win 7.

Do you or Sandog have a win 7 computer running with the weather gadget? I'd like to get a copy of the working win 7 gadget comfig files.

See this link for the cure I'm hoping works for me:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...?page=1&auth=1 I'm hoping maybe someone has a win 7 backup image perhaps.
